There's a difference between sliding, and diving head first to a base. I think it would be beneficial to do the head first dive into first more often then not, IMO.

Is that why you see Olympic sprinters dive head-first for the finish line?

Do you think they would do that even if it was beneficial?

You would probably cut your career in half from the injuries of diving onto track at full speed?

Lets not lie, the sprints would be even more exciting if they were all taking dolphin dives at the finish line.

I know it has only been one game but after going 0-7 and having a miserable ST, Rasmus looks completely lost. Two years ago this kid led all major league center fielders in OPS and if he doesn't get his act together he is going to be out of the league in a couple of years. He is acting like he doesn't give a crap. imo

I believe the race is not over until a runner's torso crosses the finish line...hence the dipping towards the line.

Correct, so diving wouldn't really be beneficial at all in track. However, in baseball, if you touch the base with your hand, it counts, so you get a couple feet added on there. I want someone to test it out and see if it actually helps or not.

Not going to win too many games getting picked off of second in the top of the 7th of a 0-0 ball game.

Prince Fielder with his first multi-home run game in a Tigers uniform today as he connects for a pair of bombs off of Boston's Josh Beckett.

As much as its going to drive me nuts this year. My guess is Prince gets to 50 HR's again this year.

Well, obviously he wasn't playing the Brewers....they never plunk anyone for beating them with their bat.

If diving into 1st was that beneficial it would be done all the time. When you go to dive into first you've got to load up your body to do so. Doing that takes away from sprinting to first and makes you slower.

Diving is beneficial in certain cases, such as a ball being thrown up the line that a 1B has to make some sort of jumping swipe tag on. Diving avoids the tag there.

I disagree that it would be done all the time. If you're talking about a front-ways slide, that's a more dangerous move and players may want to self-preserve.

Brett Pill has bad hand-eye coordination. Thus, he has trouble even counting to five because he has trouble counting fingers.

Wait. A blind man can't count his own fingers?

And the real Brett Pill went yard yesterday. I think his hand-eye coordination is just fine.

And he drew a walk the next day.

While Freese picks up right where he left off in the post-season hitting his third HR of the season to go along with 10 RBI's already.

Glad I picked up Freese rounds and rounds later than most people.

20 High Five wager w/TPWGs that Tulo isn't traded to the Redbirds in a package revolving around M. Adams and a pitcher (L. Lynn) on or by 7/31/14.

Big deals for Kinsler and Phillips.

The Brewers will finish 95-67 and win the NL Central.

Mat Gamel will finish with a .280/.340/.440 triple slash. He will also hit 30+ HR and drive in 90+ RBIs (prorated if plays less than 150 games).

After Butler drove Hosmer home in the top of the 12th to take the lead, Broxton comes into the game in the bottom of the 12th for the save opportunity. Strikes out Barton, Smith reaches on fielding error, J.Weeks and Sogard walk. So bases loaded, 1 out. Crisp grounds out but the run scores. Tied game with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd. Broxton hits Cespedes to load the bases, then proceeds to hit Gomes and the A's win with the old fashion walk-off hit batsmen. Hate to see that.

Damon signs with the Indians. Includes an out clause whenever Sizemore returns, and also a full no-trade clause. Knowing Sizemore, he will get injured his very first at bat when he comes back.

Alex Gordon snapped his hit-less start to the season. I believe he was up to 17 at bats too.
