You might be right,
AA. Because it would be a transfer within the Big 10, besides having to sit out a season, he quite possibly would have to pay his own way.
Does anyone else have a definitive answer on this issue?
did some research and found
this site which explains the intraconference transfer rules for the different conferences.
however it hasnt been updated since september of 06 so a lot could have changed since then
and found
this on MSU'S website hence the reference to MSU in the paragraph. hope it answers your question
BIG TEN INTRACONFERENCE TRANSFER RULE
Effective for Big Ten Tenders signed for the 2011-12 academic year, a
prospect who signs a National Letter of Intent with MSU and has not
triggered transfer status, would be required to complete one full year of
residence and be charged with the loss of one season of eligibility in all
sports should he/she enroll at a second Big Ten institution. If the signing
institution grants a complete release from the NLI, the prospect is
permitted to enroll at any other Big Ten institution without penalty.
The new intraconference transfer rule will also apply to returning studentathletes
who sign a Big Ten Tender for the 2011-12 academic year. It is
important to note that for student-athletes who have triggered transfer
status (e.g., returning student-athletes), there is no exception to the
residence requirement and loss of eligibility should the student-athlete
transfer to another Big Ten institution.
