Xavier had to forfeit there win over Little Chute last week due to an ineligible player playing. Little Chute will now play FVL tonight at Appleton East.

Wouldnt that be something if this is true, and LC went on to win state. How can coaches mess this stuff up, anyone know if it was a starter or what? New life for the time being in Little Chute! There are alot of rumors but we should know pretty soon! WOW

Little Chute winning state is a real possibility too. Usually when something like this happens its a lower seed that gets to advance and they usually bow out a round or two later but Little Chute is a threat to take the gold ball in Madison.

Crazy! How many years in a row now has something like this happened during the tourney? Without the internet, would this have even been reported?

What constitutes a non HS game? Did he play in a mens league where cash prizes are awarded to the winning team? I have a feeling they had some "assistence" reporting this faststew.

Talk about new life at Little Chute WOW!!!

Feel bad for the kid. Hope he did'nt know it was against the rules. I think its pretty stupid but i guess rules are rules. Also think it would be very unfortunate if little chute would go on make a run or even make it to state. Also no fair to other FVL who has been scouting Xavier all week, now they have to learn a new offense and find out how to guard them and scheme the game in a matter of 8 hours. Rediculous! Hope FVL wins this one. Should be a good one though!

I feel bad for the Xavier. I don't think he made a conscious effort to circumvent rules. Quite honestly, I am guessing this isn't the first time something like this has happened, but has gone unreported...not due to anything other than not understanding the rule.

I agree with others, someone put a bug in the ear of the Xavier staff...not that Xavier was in the right, but someone decided to make it a game changer. Good for LC, too bad for Xavier. I feel bad for the kids at Xavier.

Why would anyone play a game the morning of their HS playoff game?

Nevermind it being against the rules...it's just dumb to risk injury.

They are going to have to explain this a bit. Why does playing in a non-HS game make you in-eligible? As long as your still in high school shouldn't you be allowed to play for the high school?

It's a very straight-forward rule that applies in every sport: you cannot play in an organized game or event for the same sport that you are in season for.

So this is a textbook example of that. Other examples include running in a 5K during cross country/track season, participating in Legion baseball during the regular baseball season, playing indoor soccer during the regular soccer season, and many others. It's a very simple rule and is supported by all the WIAA schools.

Details would be appreciated.....
If a student-athlete goes to a YMCA and plays a game to better himself that's wrong.
Confused?

http://wiaawi.org/index.php?id=557

The WIAA membership has placed several rules in the Rules of Eligibility which affect the non-school participation of WIAA member athletes during the school year. The first, during the season of the sport: It is the philosophy of this Association that a student owes loyalty and allegiance to the school and team of which he/she is a member during the season of a given sport. A student becomes ineligible in a sport for the remainder of the season for competing in a nonschool game, meet, or contest in the same sport during the season of practice and competition established by the school. (ROE, page 37, Art VI, Sect 1, Par A)

Both teams are already familiar with each other...that's not to mention the fact that LC probably hasn't practiced and already had handed in their gear...putting them farther behind the 8-ball than FVL.

For them, it might even be tougher to get back in the game from a mental aspect.

FVL has played Little Chute twice already this year, beating them once, I'm pretty sure they know what they have to do to stop them.
