Unfortunate, but she may be better off as there was absolutely nothing for her to work with out there.

Kind of surprising that a community with such athletic pride and resources could not produce something reasonably competitive...though they were rather young.

She was a cultural mismatch for the program. Her high expectations versus the current BEast girls basketball culture was a bad mix from the start. Interested to see if she turns up at Hale, KM, or Waukesha West.

That seems to happen a bit when a "legend of the program" returns to take the reins of a now-struggling team.

Their idea and image of the school's program and the current state of the program are, as you say, a "cultural mismatch."

@DB - Not saying Lam should have her own shoe line, but it's like Michael Jordan or Larry Bird trying to coach.

A little more on Lam: Appparently, she obtained a position as a math teacher at Sussex Hamilton and is going to assist Dan Carey with the girls program.

Lams decision had nothing to do with Brookfield East and her coaching position. She was offered a teaching job and these days, can't pass anything up especially for a program like that. Her expectations from the start, weren't "too high"

Tim Wester resigned at Two Rivers and Mike Schultz has replaced him: http://www.htrnews.com/a...med-TR-coach?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|MAN-Prep

Interesting that the article says that Wester's resignation was announced Friday, the same day the new coach was announced.

Waukesha West position filled by Mark Busalacchi. He is/was an assistant under Dave Schultz at Waukesha West for the boys program.

Not really suprised about WAC...They stumbled to a 1-10 start this year and never really was a factor in the GMC race after that.

I'm not surprised either. Wahlen never really won anybody involved in the program over, unfortunately, and it showed on the court and in the standings.

The only link I see here is if someone is making the claim that Title IX forces public schools to keep more kids active at various levels rather than cutting down to an elite group across the board, and that somehow that inhibits a program from being successful over the long haul. If that's the rationale, I don't necessarily agree...

And to link these to the coaching changes suggests that someone thinks that the head coach wanted to have smaller teams but the administration forced them to keep more kids? Or that the coach was driven out because they weren't successful enough and that lack of success was due to Title IX affecting roster sizes?

I don't just think that. I know it!

Well here are the three programs I thought you were talking about when you made that claim:

Arrowhead: coach left to spend more time with her family

Kettle Moraine: coach was forced out against her will

Waukesha West: coach left because of his real job

How do any of these have to do with differences between what the administration wanted and what the coach wanted in terms of the number of players on a roster?

First, I erred in selecting the quote for my last post. I should have quoted your whole post because I think it misled you into thinking that I knew of a Coach/AD disagreement that directly led to a coaching vacancy. I don't know that to be the case.

What I DO know: An AD at one of the districts named in the complaint has directed coaches of girls' teams to take on more players, citing the complaint as the reason. No additional funds for more coaches, equipment, or facilities. Just more girls on teams...

Things the article did not mention:
a) He's on the WAWM School Board;
b) His daughter is currently an 8th grader and in the Hale feeder program;

Yes, he also has one on the 6th grade Jr Huskies team and 2 boys at the Hale HS on varsity. My daughter plays for 7th grade Huskies unfortunately, so I see him every now and then.

Can he coach? Will he be good for the program?

Well judging the fact he went 50-19 as head coach of the Jr Huskies he may be a good fit. I think the girls that are now in the girls program at Hale may have some familiarity with him and that could be good. However it remains to be seen if the success he had at the Jr Huskies level can translate over into the High School level where the program has struggled mightily over the last eight years.

I have not seen his coaching style so I can't comment on that, but I hear that he know's his stuff. I suppose time will tell if he can turn the program around. He's a great guy so hopefully it goes well for him.
