Feel free to list those recruits in UWO's "backyard" that went to another D3 school and performed at an All Conference level. Many of the kids from Oshkosh West and North that have played at the next level have been scholarship kids. Kind of hard to compete against a free education. Looking at UWO's roster over the last few years, they have had quite a few kids from the city of Oshkosh like Dane Seckar-Anderson, John Flanagan, Paul Wojahn, Brady Borgardt, Nate Wara, and Kyle Kannenberg. I agree but a kid like Austin Ryf should have been at oshkosh if the recruiting was good. Also Tim Dworak and DJ Marsh should have both been D1 or D2 players with scholarships that UW-O got... you can get kids if you help them see the light of playing lots of minutes and winning chamionships instead of going the scholarship route and being a roll player.... To some kids, winning is more important than a scholarship (obviously depending on their financial situation as well)

Highly Possibles
Dennis Ruedinger - Oshkosh Lourdes Dennis is a former standout at UWO and his style of coaching fits the needs of a college level program.
John Miron – Little Chutte John is a very accomplished coach that I think would fit well.
Lucky Wurtz – Kimberly A nice option for UWO but I would think he will also be looking at the ripon college job.
Gary Grzesk – St. Norbert A nice option for the job but im not sure he would'nt want to leave SNC
Lance Randall – St. Leo's The best option in my mind on my list
Eric Gardow – Chiba Jets (Japan) Another good option but he may look to UW-EC
Not as Likely
Lee Rabas – UW Fox Valley
John Mielke – Appleton East
Brian Miller – MSOE
Frank Schade – Oshkosh North Frank is too old to start a career at UWO I think.
Brad Clark - Oshkosh West
Joel DePagter - Lawrence
Not Possible
Nate Miller – Omro Nate is leaving for Nebraska this summer, His wife recieved a job at Nebraska University as a professor.
My ultimate opinion is that none of these guys will get the job unless its Lance Randall. I think UWO will be searching nationwide and get a big time name from the D1 or D2 ranks. A "big-time name from the D-1 or D-2 ranks" ? Name a D-1 "big-name" who would abandon D-1 for a D-3 job that pays far less than a D-1 job and carries with it a program that averages about 600 in attendance. Also, bear in mind that a masters degree is a minimum requirement for this university position. That probably eliminates some of your candidates. Mielke's not leaving Appleton East at this point in his career. DePagter burned too many bridges when he transferred from UWO to Lawrence as a player. Greszk isn't leaving St Norbert for UWO. His next step down the road is probably UW-Green Bay. I think you are spot on in your assessments of Wurtz, Schade and Nate Miller. Rabas, Miron, Ruedinger & Clark may not have the academic credentials (masters degree) required for the position. If any of them have the proper credentials, Ruedinger would have the best shot at the job, IMO. Brian Miller & Gardow were finalists for the UW-Eau Claire coaching opening last season. As you stated, Gardow may land the head coaching job at his alma mater, UWEC, this time around. Miller is a definite possibility for the Titans' job if he's interested. That leaves Lance Randall, who along with Brian Miller, has to be one of the leading candidates with Wisconsin connections, if he's interested in the job. When I said a big time name from D1, i meant an assistant possibly from a big time college... not a head coach. I think the UWO job is much more attractive to a coach than some of us think. We have the whole state of wisconsin to recruit players and then some. The university keeps growing and I've heard rumors that They make look to go D2 or D1 in the future (I dont know how much of that is true). But UWO will be a powerhouse team again if they make the right move here and get a coach that will get the right recruits. Right now UWO is losing alot of recruits right out of their own back yard and that needs to change!

Kudos to Sam...what a great finish.
No he hasn't. He hasn't played a collegiate game yet. He appears to be a D1 talent, but until he steps on the floor, you can't crown him one. He's not an Anthony Davis or Kyrie Irving type of player that you know will make a smooth, immediate transition to the college game. I think there's still some questions about his game that need to be answered (from the little I've seen anyway). There have been a lot of misses from Wisconsin over the years. Okey, Butch (decent career, but far from expectations), Stiemsma, Gavinski. I think it's fair to question Dekker's skills. Although I don't 100% disagree with you, I do disagree with your examples of players who "missed". Okey was Big 10 Frosh of the Year, and had off court issues which prevented him from making it (I don't consider that a miss, just a man who made poor decisions). Stiemsma plays, and has started games for the Boston Celtics, I wouldn't consider that a miss. Butch was fine his Junior and Senior year before his injuries. So although I agree we can't say Dekker is going to be a college stud, your examples weren't the best. Obviously were not talking about a Kyrie Irving or a Anthony Davis... They are one and done first overall picks in the NBA. But I have had the chance to watch this kid play in some invitational tournaments (All-American Classic in NOLA) and he really dominated some of the best kids in the country. His attitude has come a long way and he will be a standout at the D1 level. The announcers for this All-American game were saying they think he will be a draft pick in three years. Also, He got screwed by not being selected to play in the McDonals All Star Game.

Kind of suprised that Brad Clark at West got the axe but I've heard he is now planning on applying at Omro?

they plan to play SEYMOUR EAST TROY DOMINICAN OMRO WHITEFISH BAY HOMESTEAD TOURNY. any toughts on how they will fare with every starter coming back I could easily see them going 5-1 or 6-0 in those games... When LC is on and playing well, they should be considered top top team in D3. They were for most of last year until the end of the season and return all starters i think?

Does the new coach get any potential bonus if he/she starts filling up the now cavernous Kolf Center? Filling Kolf will be a challenge for anyone! If anyone can it is Lance Randall. He has family in the area and loves Wisconsin. After his first year at St. Leo's he was named coach of the year in that conference. He is a great teacher, recruiter, and tactician. And he's a job hopper. If you're hoping for any long term stability, you can't trust your program to Randall. Most big name coaches you get at UWO are going to be looking at it as a stepping stone for a D2 or D1 job.... Lance might be no different but none the less, he is a great option. Also Kolf is getting re-done this summer. New basketball court, new indoor track, new bleachers, etc. The place might not be soo much of a cave when they're done with it.

Omro has an opening for Varsity Girls Basketball coach... I believe the JV and freshman coaches would like to stay if the next coach would like them to, but we are looking for a new varsity coach. a good young team that is improving from years past with alot of young talent. Like many teams we need a good coach.

What happened to Miller? Nate's wife is a professor and got an offer from Nebraska University that they ultimately decided they could not pass up. They will be moving there this summer and she will be teachign there in the fall. A great loss for the Omro boy's program and the school district, as he was a great teacher in the middle school as well.
