Otherwise, I say it is Melvin. Only thing is he said player...so Melvin would be out... However, looking at who it may be I am guessing Gallardo or Lohse. My apologies. I implemented the afro for sarcasm and never used it (on Melvin). Does Gallardo even talk? If it was Lohse, remember, Attanasio wanted him signed, not Melvin. It was supposedly one of those behind-the-GM's-back sort of things. He has to be talking about Braun. I just can't see anyone else on this team even talking. A no-brainer would be Weeks or Axford because apparently neither can do anything wrong. However, I would state Axford has done just as much good as bad this year, while I can't say that about Weeks. Reason why I was thinking Lohse or Gallardo is because of the mentality of who else is there!?! Both are top notch pitchers without much pushing from below. I think Braun is the logical choice but just seems too easy. I was thinking Segura right now too. Highly touted. DOing well, a lot invested in him. Just think he may be a tough one.

I think replay in baseball for things other than HR's is stupid. What is the percentage of blown calls? It can not be as high as the number of calls made correctly. Keep the human element there, shore up your umpires, and quit trying to "better" the game.

I know a lot of people want to say Trout but from all the reports I read they say his arm is suspect. So I am not sure he is on there. My list.. Cano Braun Hamilton Kemp Trout is close though...ARod would be here but age has slowed him.

Cincinnati has some awesome Chili Dogs. Easily my favorite so far. A close second would be KC and the ribs they had at one stand in the stadium. Who doesn't love a good rib? Everyday food I get a Brat with kraut, onion, Ketchup, and a dab of mustard. Wash it down with a soda or possibly NA Beer. Also will get Nachos with Jalapenos on them!

I am not in the anything but physical abuse category. There is certain behavior and actions, I would not tolerate from a coach. As a fan, as a parent, or as a participant.
The thing is, everyone here is judging all this based on heresay, and reports from the media. People are trying to interpret his intentions and what's in his head. As if he was trying to cause harm to the player. I realize it's what we all do on here, but is it possible that a coach spoke withouth realizing he was insensitive and perhaps wrong, as he was trying to get a kid, or kids to improve and step outside of their comfort zone.
If you really think that the coach was intending to do harm, and was acting to committ harm, then he should be removed. If his actions made you uncomfortable, then maybe say that. But I already see alot of comments, that say its OK to insult, one way, but not another.
if he called a kid a "fat bastar*****) isn't he now insulting the kids mother? Her morals, her ethics? Or he actually yelling at the kid to get his attention, or drill a point.
people are different. positive reinforcement works on one player, but not another. Screaming and yelling may work to get one kids attention, and shut another down. Laps, pushups, drills may work for others. I think ultimately a good coach, finds out what works with his team, and what works for each player.
I didn't say you were in the anything but physical abuse category, but you are a lot closer to it than the majority, (IMO). I'm personally not a fan of insulting anyone for any reason, however when it comes to being an administrator, I don't think I could stand behind a coach dropping gay slurs. I would give him/her every opportunity to defend themselves and explain, but the sticks and stones defense has a line to it. Even if gay slurs "worked" to motivate a player, that does not make it acceptable. Yes, if a coach called a student athlete a "Fat bas****" I'd discipline him.
What would you do if a coach dropped an N-Bomb on a player?[/quote] If I were the AD and a coached called a kid fat bastard I would talk with him the first time and then discipline him the next. Give one warning move on...as for the N bomb...I would not hesitate to discipline him on the first one!

As a coach for a number of years now I will never condone verbal abuse of a player. If I have to resort to name calling like fat slob, ******got, ******, etc then I should not coach again. I actually remember hearing a coach tell his players we will not play n***er ball here. All I could think about was "how is that even remotely ok?" I understand maybe swearing when being upset, or saying move your lazy ass...but to belittle a person is not ok. I come from a school where I had coaches scream at me. I accepted it. Also as for this being too sensitive and pc crap...I agree we need thicker skin but that does not mean we should be beaten down verbally.

Not only have they stayed with seven inning games (a baseball game is not five innings) but they have also been able to get the entire conference slate in thus far without stressing young pitching arms. While teams have lost the opportunity at some of the non-conference games they typically play, it's nice to see teams still playing 16-18 seven inning conference games.
In my opinion, teams that have played seven inning games all season will be at an advantage come tournament time over teams that have regularly used the five inning allowance. To be honest I haven't noticed a lot of teams using the 5-inning format. I think most people are just not rescheduling non-conference games that were cancelled because even with 5-inning games, there would still be a lot (too many) games in a short amount of time. Most schools near me aren't going 5 inning games. Just for purity sakes!
