I think the board has been dying anyway. People get fed up with arguing and leave. I will always be here though. Amazing! The crew has FIVE starters batting .322 or higher and are in last place. Bring back Maddux. The Crew also has FIVE regulars batting .208 or lower. Can't put a winning team together when only half are producing.

Every time the ball is inbounded you get a new 10 second count, regardless of the cause of the dead ball. That's why coaches will burn a timeout at the 8 or 9 count. They keep the ball and get a new count. Where was this and how long has that clown been officiating?

After years of calling balls and strikes, I can assure you: that hurt!

Because it isn't good defense? I think the charge calls Quinnster and I dislike are ones where a faster, better player blows by his man on the perimeter, only for the defense to bailed out because some guy comes sliding in at the last minute. That's hardly defense. Just so I am clear on your way of thinking: A1 beats his defender, B1, on a drive to the basket. B2 steps in, establishes a legal guarding position to defend the basket, and that's not good defense? Basketball is still a team game. When one player gets beat, another player steps up. IMO, that is defense. That's not what he is saying. What he is saying is that B2 slides in after A1 started his ascent to the basket, but the official instead of watching that play, simply looks at where the defenders feet are and if outside the restricted area, majority of the calls are a charge. Ok, point taken. Even more reason to take the stupid rule out. If (as an official) I don't have to worry about where B2's feet are, I am more able to rule on whether a legal guarding position was established or not. A couple of weeks ago the great minds raked the officials over the coals because the secondary defender's foot was in the air over the line, and claimed that the officials blew the call. Why the double standard? You can have your entire body outside the endline saving the ball, and you are legal. Why is a lifted foot over the line considered in the restricted area? This rule, especially the way it is written, is just too difficult to properly enforce consistently. I just feel it needs to go away.

Not a bad list, but here are a few of my tweaks: 1. Yes reduce it to 3 at first: 15, 10, 5. And get rid of the use it or lose it TO for the first half. 2 & 5 must go together. If you reduce the shotclock to 30 seconds, take out the 10 second backcourt count. (NCAA women's rule). But I don't have a problem with a team buying a new 10 seconds with a timeout. 6. If there is an official review, the players must be on the other half of the floor away from their benches. 8. Restricted Area? Get rid of the rule. The most useless rule in basketball and the most difficult to enforce. Beside, why penalize good defense?

I got a breaking news email from CNN that claims Rutgers fired Rice this morning. If it's true, I am very happy. There is no place in any organized sports for that kind of behavior.
