What year did he play at St. Francis? His senior year was 2004 I think. He did play on the line with Oglesby but Josh was a sophomore. That line was huge. I want to say it averaged around 290. Then played 4 years at Arkansas and started the last 2. Including playing a bunch against the Badgers in a bowl game. Good athlete probably better than Oglesby (Valdez started in basketball). I'm as SFHS alum back when Dan Brunner was the coach so I follow them to this day. Nice to see a couple of Marniners in the Big Ten and Trying to get in the NFL. That offensive line was incredible. Four of the five linemen played some sort of college football. Southern Door had a line very similar to that in 1997, all five went on to play D1 football, with three ending up being starters at Wisconsin. Two of them later went on to play in the NFL as well. The one with the most hype was Al Johnson who was a 2nd round pick by Dallas.

Former WIAC Baseballer wrote:Joe Rux-Roncalli
A team that won just two games back in 2002-03 and then makes back-to-back state appearances in 2004-05 and 2005-06.
Roncalli has averaged over 21 wins a season over the past eight years. I was thinking the same person. 14 losses in year one, and barely that many in the past six years total (prior to this year).

Who was the youngest coach to ever win a WIAA state boys basketball championship? And how old was he/she?

Southern Door hasn't lost their season opener since at least the the 1995 season. That is as far back as I can remember.

Bryan Gregory to UW-Oshkosh. He will sit out this spring in order to keep four years of eligibility and will start practicing next Fall.

wiggum wrote: Horrible news, Dan has injured his knee and is out for the year. I guess he hurt it this past weekend. I don't know the exact details yet. This is not true and is blown out of proportion. Dan has a strained acl and slight tear in meniscus and should only miss a few weeks.

sabegs28 wrote: All WIAC schools over recruit...they do it in football...they do it in basketball, and probably ever other sport. Look at Smith, Gregory, Ziemer at Steven Point. Look at Whitewater's roster...where are the Lawson twins? Eau Claire's roster...where is Alex Rau? La Crosse? Gholston, Ripley, Hendricks, Tice, Hanson? I don't know the situations with these players, but I agree that a lot of freshmen do not make the actual roster once the season comes along. Frequently they decide not to continue with basketball once they realize the time commitment involved. In some cases an injury might occur that prevents them from participating. The issue with Stevens Point is that these two players were flat out cut in September before the season even began. These players might have elected not to play come November, but the fact that they were never given the opportunity to participate is discouraging.

You seem to be a UWSP-apologist defending unacceptable actions that have little to no concern about a student athlete. It sounds like Semling is more concerned about potentially developing a kid who may leave than taking care of a kid away from home for the first time ever. Who's to say Ziemer isn't a dedicated basketball player? Certainly not you. I look forward to the day when he steps on Bennett Court as a Pioneer or Warhawk. We'll see who misses who. You seem to be an absolute joke if you think I'm a UWSP-apologist...since I probably hate UWSP more then any other team since I went to WW...and also how are you so sure these "unacceptable actions that have little to no concern about a student athlete" took place? are you the coach? are you one of the players? do you know the situations? if so please...enlighten us with all you know. It sounds like Semling is more concerned about potentially coaching and developing a kid who is dedicated to the team and will help him keep team cohesivness, competitiveness and someone who is focused on and off the court. His job isn't to take care of a kid away from home for the first time ever, he even told the kid "supposedly" that if he wasn't fitting in or liking it that he should look elsewhere...wouldn't that show he is taking care of the kid? Who's to say Ziemer is a dedicated basketball player? Certainly not you. I look forward to the day when he steps on Bennett Court as a Pioneer or Warhawk...mainly because I'm a Warhawk alum. We'll see who misses who. From your perspective then D3 coaches should focus more on winning than the well being of their players. Semling has done a great job continuing the success at UW-Stevens Point and if he is able to put winning before the well being of his players than more power to him. He is being paid to win basketball games, not to baby sit and coddle players. It's not the way I would do it, but I'm not the head coach at one of the premier D3 schools in the country. He needs to win and the best way to do that is to over recruit year in and year out and then then cut ties with the student athlete as soon as the student starts to struggle on or off the court to bring a new face in. If someone goes down its going to be the student athlete, not the coach at UW-Stevens Point.

Hopefully Jason and Bryan can both find a place to go to school next semester and play ball again in the future. It would be cool to see them at another WIAC school together so they can play Stevens Point 2-3 times a year for the next four years.

Sorry, but I won’t post any information or speculate on where they might end up. The information I provided earlier and my opinions I gave were on things that already happened and are over with. I won’t comment on anything that might happen in the future with these players. They need to figure things out on their own and find out where they can go to get the best education for themselves. Basketball unfortunately burned them once in college already and it should be a secondary thing for them for no one, school needs to come first and if they can play basketball at the same time, then it will be a positive.
