I always interpreted Colbert's show as only leaning liberal--very much more moderate than Stewart's. My impression was that the whole me-oriented thing was as much a big Bill Maher joke as it was a joke about Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh. In the end, though, unlike Stewart, who is critiquing primarily politicians, Colbert is definitely more anti-media than he is political. His sister was a Dem, and perhaps she was just being politically apt in South Carolina, but she was a reasonably moderate Dem. That said, it could just be the conspiracy machine speaking through me and this is just what he wants you to think.

Lebron bugs me too, for many reasons. Mainly because he continues to be compared to Jordan when in reality has no business being put in the same sentence as Jordan AT THIS POINT in his career. When you compare what the 2 have accomplished (both individually and with their teams), there is no comparison. He's 1-3 in finals with a complete choke job in 2011, that to me already ends the conversation as Jordan never, ever disappeared in an NBA finals. Plus, Lebron only started becoming really elite and taking his game to another level over the last 2.5 years or so with his run in Miami. IF Lebron continues to do what he's doing for the next 3-4 years and wins 3-4 championships and continues at the level that he's at, then sure I think the conversation is warranted. But right now? Give me a break.
Also, the way the whole Miami thing went down was extremely weak IMO, with the best player in the game deciding to collude with two other future NBA hall of famers and monopolizing the NBA market to win championships. Lebron has gone on record several times as saying that the league's talent level has been watered down in recent history, and I agree with him. So OK Lebron, since the league is watered down, why did you feel the need to join up with 2 other NBA all stars (and a damn good supporting cast) in order to win championships? Was that really necessary? I realize Lebron can't control what moves Miami's front office makes, which have been stellar by adding the likes of Chris Anderson, Ray Allen, etc. which has made this team virtually unbeatable, but "the decision" has just seemed like a cop out by Lebron from the start.
Just my 2 cents. Is Bosh really making the Hall of Fame? He certainly isn't without being on the Heat. Jordan never disappearing in the NBA finals is sort of a weird point as well. LeBron's team playing in that finals series was something truly special--he was carrying his team to the finals 2 years earlier than Jordan did, didn't have anybody nearly as good as Scotty Pippen, and "disappeared" by averaging 22-7-7. With his team averaging about 80 points a game--and the Spurs averaging only slightly above the same--that means that Lebron was involved with a little under half the points his team was scoring in that series. There is also no "monopolization" of the NBA market. The Heat now have two superstars and another very good player. But that's what the Thunder had before Lebron made his decision. Compare Lebron's situation to that of Kobe or Dwight Howard this past year--is the Heat's cast so much better? It would be one thing if everyone took pay cuts and you got to throw Chris Paul and Dwight Howard on the Heat, while they ditched Bosh and found an elite PF. But they didn't really do anything absurd. The big three are playing at max contracts, so the salary cap is in effect, and the talent around LeBron isn't really so much more than the talent was around Jordan or the talent around any other player currently in the NBA who is having an impact on the playoffs. Trade LeBron for Durant, straight-up. Are the Thunder not suddenly the better team (assuming Westbrook is back). Trade Lebron for either of the Laker's stars, trade LeBron for anyone on the Nuggets, Pacers, Grizzlies, Spurs--if you trade LeBron for any player on any team remaining in the playoffs, is LeBron's new team not better than his old one? Maybe the Knicks wouldn't be as good--but that's it. I get that Wade is an excellent player, and that Bosh isn't bad, but now that the decision is over, it seems like a much less ridiculous team. It's more like LeBron is so good that it almost is unfair that he has another good player on his team.

This has potential to be so unbelievably loud. There is a giant glass panel pointing toward the field--won't sound bounce off that? I went to a lot of games at the Dome growing up and my only disappointment with the stadium is that I won't be living here to go to games there in the future.

This seems like a fair expectation. 4 or 5 productive years is pretty reasonable. He truthfully does have a lot of mileage on him--if he can even give 2 or 3 explosive years I think fans should be pretty happy. Lacy has had the least amount of carries from any of the top 5 backs taken in the draft, in fact, he has less than James White... He almost has 3x less than Montee. If you think Lacy has a lot of milage on him....What do you think Ball has?? Lacy was a starter for one year. The dude had 355 career carries. Where is your Logic? Needless to say I know Ball has a ton of mileage on him, he's been a workhorse for years. I actually didn't realize Lacy had carried the ball so little, I thought he had also started two years ago (and that T-Rich had come out before the 2011 season). This was my mistake--I guess I watched too little college football last year outside of Wisconsin to really know what I'm talking about in terms of scouting.

Aren't parents right sometimes? If a parent is complaining that a coach is abusive, is that not warranted? I know parents complain quite a bit, but I feel like it should be left to administrators to do their job and decide whether parent complaints are legitimate or not.

I was hoping Sherrod would challenge Newhouse when he returned from his injury, but perhaps Sherrod's career is in jeopardy after the 2nd surgery on his leg.
I think the pre-season is going to be an adventure at left tackle ... when the smoke has cleared, don't be surprised to see Marshall Newhouse right back where he started.
You read it here first.
edit: The Packers gave up 51 sacks last season. Newhouse was responsible for 11 of those. Why are the Packers (and/or the Press) making an issue of those 11 sacks in their rationalization & justification for moving him to the right side? If my math is correct, there were 40 other sacks allowed by the O-line and blocking backs besides Newhouse's 11. Seems like a lot of sacks to give up considering the focus of every offensive line gameplan is covering up for him.

Trust me, things like this happen all the time, every day. Don't be surprised. Makes me think of the Hobby Lobby situation. I just hope all the younger people out there are paying attention to what's going on. All this is going to get worse in 2014. As far as this Collins thing- I had never heard of him. Don't follow basketball like I used to, but still... Don't understand why the big deal about him? I understand he was engaged/or had this girlfriend for 8 years and left her hanging. Wasn't honest with her. Now this guy is is praised by the media for his "courage?" When I hear the word "courage", I think of other things like our men and women in uniform fighting overseas, police officers, firefighters, ER personnel, etc.
There are different types of ways to show courage. There are probably some gay military personnel who are impressed by the courage Collins has shown. I don't think it will truly be breaking a major barrier until a major athlete comes out--if things get too tough for this guy to deal with, he can always walk away considering he's 34. But I think sometimes it takes people like Collins to give others in his sport courage to come out. Also, really incredible article about Vince Lombardi and how he treated black and gay players as a result of the discrimination he faced as an Italian. http://espn.go.com/new-y...ardi-proud-jason-collins

Also makes me believe any Bishop trade rumors are total bullsh_t. By now doesn't it seem pretty clear that they love Brad Jones? He's being paid $4 mil next year on a deal that he signed this summer. The ILB corps is Jones, Hawk and Bishop as well as a bunch of other random pieces. That doesn't seem like such a need area to me.
