If I recall, in one of his interviews at state, he made some comment to the effect "I always told my wife I would hang it up if I win 10 state titles"....helluva a way to go out.

In all honesty...Weber or Elmore would've shattered countless statistical records for a season if they played on teams where they were the only option.
You're delusional. No they wouldn't have, they would have averaged about 20 a game like Deppe and been .500 in the conference. You're implying they are SUPERIOR individual players to Deppe and you have NOTHING to validate your theory. Take Weber or Elmore off either one of their teams and they are still better than a .500 team because of they players that surrounded them. Their teams finished where they should because they were the BEST TEAMS, not necessarily the best individual players. Having seen all of them play multiple times and speaking to a number of individuals that follow this stuff closer than any of us, Deppe was the right choice. He caused more match up problems than anyone in the conference except Elmore. I just think if Weber or Elmore are on that team, they scrape up more than a 7-7 record. So if you had the task of assembling the best basketball team based on known talent and this season...you're taking Deppe over Weber or Elmore? Please, what a joke. Weber had 3 years to play on a team where he was the only option and averaged around 13-14 PPG while shooting in the low 40's. Thank you Bill! Still trying to figure out what records Weber and Elmore would have "shattered" in New Richmond.

I actually hope it happens...it would put some more focus on the issue within the WIAA. No one could tell me this was nothing more than a pure athletic mover...which supposedly, according to some, never happens.

I'm not saying he was recruited, but like Reggie White going to GB, God told him to go there. Wouldn't he have to sit out a year? Doesn't make much sense.

Wisconsin is only a reflection of the national HS basetball landscape. Go take a look at who the top ranked teams are nationally (I realize Germantown is on there...and is an exception). All private schools. Now considering there are less private schools, doesn't it seem somewhat strange? Honestly don't think there is much that can be done, nor do I think the WIAA is looking at doing much. At this point, they treat enrollment as the litmus test regardless of location. I think if they start tinkering with it too much, they open themselves up to law suits. Honestly, I wish they would just go back to 3 divisions...I think the landscape would look quite different. That being said. I enjoyed the heck out of watching Wilson and Stone. We are blessed in this tournament to watch the 2 best PGs in the state in Wilson and Koenig...Wilson will play a ton at Marquette and Stone, when its all said and done, will be the biggest college prize to come out of the state. (remember, he's only a sophomore, playing in a mans body...his upside is remarkable).

Recent history, I'd say Jerrod Bucholz and Joe Berger for starters.

Deppe was a great choice as POY...and yes, it has happened before for where the team winning the conference doesn't have the POY. Its not just about winning...at all costs as you are blinded by. By your own thinking, the POY in the state cannot be any player except someone that wins state, correct? Thats happened before too. Out of curiosity what records would have been "shattered" had Weber or Elmore been the "only option"? You realize that these 2 are not even the best players to come out of their schools? So I don't know what records would have been shattered.

Please, what a joke.
And there in lies your delusion...you think Elmore and Weber are far superior to Deppe. What statistical records would they have broke on that NR team? So you're saying that neither Weber or Elmore would be a team player on a team like NR's this year? Yes, I would take Deppe and/or Elmore first and second if I could. They both offer more scoring options and can defend the post or the perimeter. Talk about a joke...Back up your comments instead of coming on here preaching to the us statistic this and team that. Apparently, EVERYONE but you who is a part of the selection agreed with me. If you want to see a real joke, look at COY...always goes to the winning team. Too me, thats a joke...pretty easy to coach when you have the talent. Guy who probably deserved it was Luehman..he got more out of what he had than any coach in the conference. BTW, in my opinion there is MORE than simply winning...at any cost. Again, others must see it that way too.
