Best game(s) of the tournament so far
Tuesday, February 26, 2013 10:01:11 AM(UTC)
D3 regional final. Winneconne vs Xavier was a great game in a loud environment at Xavier. Winneconne had the game won as a 7 seed in regulation up by three with 8 seconds and the ball. Winneconne inbounded the ball and then turned it over and Xavier hit a three with 2 seconds left to tie and send to overtime. Xavier won in double OT.

It looked like
was doing well and they are struggling now.
has been playing well and competing and I would say they are getting better as the season goes.
has impressed me with their season so far. They do not have the most talent but they are really a bunch of hustling players making the most out of what they have.
I don't know what is going on in
other than one guy just can't quite get them over the top.
is up and down not quite as good as I thought at this point or quite possibly the conference is more even.
plays hard each night just with their size they have some tough match ups but they are talented overall they seem to be able to play with anyone and lose to anyone like many teams this year.
is improved but if their young guard is off they really have no one else to handle the ball. He needs to play well for Jenson to be a factor.
is another team that seems to be up and down. I saw the game against Little Chute last night (probably not a good one to judge a team by) but they had a couple kids forcing up shots. From looking at the box scores when they have some balance they do ok.
It looks like Winneconne, Ripon, Waupaca, Freedom, FVL are similar to this point.
Xavier, Berlin, and Clintonville are the next group with LC on top by a ways.
The only real constant is
which was kind of a no brainer from the start. Most starters on the other teams would have a hard time cracking their bench players. They are a special team. The players know their roles and accept them.

2012 Eastern Valley Pick 'Em Level 3

By the sounds of all this talk. The Freedom coach deserves a lot of credit. He made great adjustments after the Winneconne game. I was at the Freedom vs Winneconne game and it didn't look like they "tanked" the game. Winneconne played really well and Freedom got down by more than one score which they really weren't accustomed to. If Freedom was going to "tank" a game, which I don't think high school kids or a coach would go into a game saying let's lose, they wouldn't of played Peters at all. I think Winneconne loss helped Freedom get their focus back and they are just one solid and well coached team with a fantastic running back in Peters that is hot at the right time. Little Chute is used to getting some big pass plays and unfortunately for them it didn't work out for last night.
Great season by both teams and good luck to Freedom as Big Foot is going to be quite a challenge.
All Conference Question

I have heard some of the picks but not an entire list. Anybody have a entire list to post? I have also heard about a few evc kids getting all region not sure when that comes out as well.
How will Div 3 playout this year?

Little Chute struggled to beat Seymour last year, needing a buzzer beater to win it. Also they have no one capable of even defending a Duane Wilson or Bronson Koenig. If they want to win it all they're going to need to buy into playing defense and throwing egos aside. Their depth will be a key for a late season push. You saw it against Brillion last year though, teams with tough gritty guards (Kittel Krizinewsky?! sp) can really give LC's guards issues. Good luck against Wilson on Nov. 23.
You don't know much about Lc basketball do you.their assistant coach John miron prides himself on defense. Lc has been one of the top defensive teams in the state the last three years. They pride themselves on defense which leafs to a good offense. As far as seymour goes they are a great team with a ton of talent not to mention a division 2 school when Lc is division 3. And they beat seymour on their turf so that is saying something as well. I will agree with you about pesky guards, but in contrast no one can match up with borzoi and Lowe on a nightly basis. A few games maybe not all year. And idk what egos you are talking about. With their coaching staff if any who gets in the way you won't play. So either your an Lc hater or you don't watch much games or both. But get your facts straight they ate one of the most talented teams in the state and one of deepest. It is state or bust this year
I agree with Baker18 they can play defense with the best of them. They have a lot of athletes on that team. Ciske, DeValk, Job, Albers not even to mention Botz and Lowe. They are going to be tough. I am not a LC fan but I get to see them numerous times during the season and have to appreciate their play and talent. As far as what I have seen for "ego" it is pretty minimal. They all seem to know that Botz and Lowe are the main scorers and I would nearly guarantee Ciske could be a top scorer on most teams if he was the focus and he and the others seems to get the big picture.
How will Div 3 playout this year?

Now that football is winding down It's time to talk some hoops. I give the favorite this year to Little Chute,I will admit I haven't kept up on which teams graduated key players and which teams didn't. I think some of the teams from last year will be good such as brillion, the Dells, Omro, East Troy...etc. My preseason pick though is Little Chute. What are your thoughts?
Omro lost their coach and two 4 year starters. The new coach I think will be good but they are not even close to being as talented as the last couple years.

Somebody had to finish last
. Clintonville didn't seem to have anyone I could remember from last year that looked like the talent of Fletcher. But like I stated, I think it could be anyone after Little Chute.

When do they generally release the all conference list?

Other than Little Chute I think you could see close games across the board. Just like every year kids will emerge that no one knew of to replace kids that we thought were irreplaceable. I wouldn't be surprised if any other team ends up in the top couple of teams.
They should have not any problem in conference other than complacensy. I think it will be interesting to see how they mesh as a team. Will there be enough balls to go around? If they play as a team they should have a good shot at a state run. I like how they made there non conference schedule tough other than possibly Omro.
Return three starters and they always seem to get better as the season goes on. They always have plently of talent in their lower ranks so the program is always up near the top.
Well coached. They have Bauman and some talent coming back in VanderGalien and Stangl. I think they will surprise a few this year. They also have Sam Vanderplas with more playing time from last year to help run the show.
They have some talent coming back in Fuhrmann and Schwebs. Had solid JV and Freshman teams so there is talent in the program.
They are going to be small this year but very fast and athletic. Not sure if Bo Casper will be back for basketball as well as replacing last years kids. They will be a fast team ans should be fun to watch.
They should have two seniors starting with three juniors that all played quite a few minutes last year. They lose Koth who was mainly a shooter more than a pure scorer. Heckers game is more balanced with offense and defense and that should lead to more rounded scoring for the team. Should be much more athletic than last year. They had quite a few sophomore playing some minutes last year so they have some experience.
They obviously have Hegner and the balance of team really hustles and that makes up for their lack of pure athleticism. I know there freshman and JV teams were weak last year so what they have from last year is it. Berlin depth will be a potential issue.
Vasquez got better as the season went on and was really impressive for a freshman or any grade for that matter. Other than him they are going to need to find some help. There JV and Freshman struggled last year so they will need to find that help on their varsity roster.
Mainly put here because not sure of what potential talent they have to replace Fletcher.
