Can Shiocton make a run through D4? Beating Omro 49-32 yesterday night

gigantor wrote:If they could beat them then, wild rose could beat them now, specially because of the continued improvement of the wild rose team. Wild Rose faced a stronger school than playing Amherst, Shicoton, or even Bonduel, Necedah in D5 although the game didnt result in a victory. Your downplaying of Wild Rose is ignorant and completely foolish. Im not saying Wild Rose can beat anyone, im saying that they are a good team, and they WILL give their competition a run for the money. LOL you said Necedah was better than Amherst and Shiocton.... smh

I'll take Regis in an upset...
Final Score: Regis 66,000 - Springs 43,000 Unfortunately, the intelligent people on here understand that you are posting the estimated populations of both districts in Eau Claire and Fondy. Not hard to read into it. It's two private school battling it out. At least we don't have to hear about it at the game. Maybe Shioctin and Edgar could play to find a public school D6 champ so everyone will shut up about it. Jeeze. Nothing gets past you! Are they the two best teams in D6? Most definitely, and I think a ton of people are underestimating this Regis team. Both teams have so many athletes it is unbelievable. Are they the two best teams from D6 sized communities? Obviously not...and I would much rather watch a matchup with a team being victorious that fits this criteria Define D6 community... Really Newman...you don't have to justify the inequities...you're winning! D6 schools are NOT from cities of 40,000+. Springs and Regis routinely defeat small town schools in the playoffs, many of which are putting their best team in 25 or 30 years on the field, yet don't have a chance. Iowa-Grant is a prime example. Perhaps Shioctin as well. What you Private faithful fail to understand is that the Public faithful still want to watch the private schools battle it out. We just also want the small town publics to have the same opportunity. This Springs vs Regis match up is a dandy and any HS football fan would be crazy not to want to watch it. The same holds true in hoops when teams like Dominican and Aquinas play. But when it comes to having towns of fewer than 2000 people try to match up with several D1 recruits from St. Cat's, the white flag is up. Yet you keep protesting, "Aw come on, don't quit. You might beat us next time..." It's funny that the hot topic these days is bullying, yet it is not only allowed but openly defended and justified in this Private vs Public debate. I know, quit crying and "just get better."
I have 2 questions about your post. First, would it have been more acceptable if these schools like I-G or Shiocton had been beaten by a perennial public power like Edgar? Second, I'm having a hard time seeing the bullying connection that you mentioned. Can you clarify that for me? I can answer your first question. Regis was beat 28-0 by Shiocton in level 4 last year. Regis beat Edgar 21-0 this year. I know it's a new year, but i'm pretty sure that by looking at this schools like I-G or Shiocton would have stuck with or beaten pretty handily "public powers like Edgar". How did Shiocton (sorry about spelling in previous post) come out vs. Springs the following game? Look, we can both point to single games or even single out programs to make our cases. But the reason this argument will never truly get settled is because ultimately this comes down to opinions, not facts. Does one believe that a private school located in an area with a larger population have an unfair advantage over publics in more remote areas? I'm not sure I feel confident that a one word answer gives justice to this question. It surely gets more involved as variables are considered. So in the end, all we can do is enjoy the argument realizing that social inequities are impossible to avoid. That said, save a seat; the game is today...and while I'm watching this potentially epic battle, I won't really care whether they're public or private! Well at about 3 pm we will see the final score of the Regis Springs game and its going to be a blow out. DONT BUY IN TO THE REGIS HYPE! THERE EASILY STOPABLE AND WILL GET DISMANTLED IN THE GAME TODAY!
