I agree. I thought the outfield was going to be grass still and for me it was hard to tell in the pictues if it was or not.

All Conference Are they putting in lights? Or covering the grandstand? the last I heard and this was about a year ago now that the rennovations would be made because they were putting in lights and the field turf would help in terms of playing after/during rain and they could host conference tournaments and stuff like that...WIAA playoff games I think too...but IDK...and I think the outfield is still grass...in one of the pictures it looks like down the foul lines is field turf but the outfield is grass...but I could be wrong...but thats what I saw and heard as well

It's actually a fairly common practice on a lot of new fields. It lets the school save on money by only installing field turf on the portion of the field that requires the most maintenence. Many teams also like the real grass outfield because they feel like FieldTurf doesn't always slow down a rolling ball in the outfield the way it should. It appears UWW left the mound as real dirt. Some places have installed turf everywhere, including the mound. Since FieldTurf and real grass both have blades, there's really no seam. If we were talking about the transitioning from the old AstroTurf carpets to grass, then there would be a noticable seam.

I have never seen an astro turf mound. I'm sure it could happen though. I have been to two fields that have the atro turf infield and grass outfield. Indiana State and Witchita Wrangerls (minor league team).

All Conference Are they putting in lights? Or covering the grandstand? from what i can tell it is light poles because they are down the outfield lines as well (saw that driving past to class the other day). I also noticed (not sure if I pointed it out on here yet or not), but they enclosed the dug outs also with some padding/poles.

As a player that has done a lot of work on the field I can tell you that the mound is clay, outfield is grass and no lights are being installed.

I coulda swore when I was going to school there that the talks and "reason" for building the stadium up nicer was for hosting non collegiate tournament games...this was a while back (4-5 years now) but I know that lights were a big factor...plus its not like WW is hurting for money...christ they have updated just about every sporting field possible!
