WSN Baseball Senior Awards

Kenosha Bradford's Nate Nikolas has been selected as the top senior Outfielder as part of the WSN Senior Baseball Awards presented by Taco Bell.

Mikolas was the top-ranked major league prospect in the state of Wisconsin coming into the year and proved why with a huge senior season. He helped the Red Devils win the Southeast Conference title in dominating fashion, as the team finished with an 11-1 league record. Bradford made a nice playoff run as well, advancing to the Division 1 state quarterfinals.

Mikolas finished his senior season with a .522 batting average to go with 6 home runs, 20 extra-base hits, 23 RBI, 32 runs, 20 walks and a 1.000 slugging percentage in 25 games. In the team's lone state tournament game he went 1 for 2 with a double, walk, and hit by pitch.

In early June he became the highest-drafted Wisconsin high school player in quite some time as he was selected in the third round of the MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. He is likely to sign with the team, but he also has a scholarship to Louisville if he chooses to go the college route. Mikolas played for a traveling team out of Georgia last season, where he earned valuable experience and exposure that have helped him dominate back at Bradford this year.

Finalists for the award were Mikolas, Josh Baker of University School, Mitch Champagne of Coleman, Stan Mrozinski of Ashwaubenon, and Nick Yenter of Rosholt.
