Wilmot’s Kristen Wood has been selected as the top senior Pitcher as part of the WSN Senior Softball Awards presented by Taco Bell.

Wood has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the state the past several years, including taking Wilmot to a state runner-up finish last year that included a no-hitter in the state quarterfinals. A two-time First Team All-State selection coming into the season, she was recently named Gatorade State Player of the Year for 2012

She is 21-4 this year with a 0.85 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, and 293 strikeouts in 156 innings. She also hits .444 with a .753 slugging percentage while racking up 6 home runs and 35 RBI.

Wilmot, the top-ranked team in Division 1, missed the state tournament this season after being upset by eventual-sectional champion Westosha Central in the sectional semifinals last week.

Wood was also an accomplished hitter this season, co-leading the team (Kelsey Saucerman) with 36 hits while adding 35 RBIs and 6 homeruns.  Her .444 batting average was second on the team.

Finalists for the award were Wood, Oakfield’s Ashley Holz, Union Grove’s Alice Fitzpatrick, Kenosha Christian Life’s Brie Tennyson and Poynette’s Kirsten Tomlinson.
