Week 1 Rushing Leaders

Northland Pines' Austin Ramesh had an outstanding off-season, earning multiple Division I scholarship offers before giving a verbal commitment to the University of Wisconsin. He opened the 2012 season with a bang, rushing for a state-high 321 yards on 21 carries in the Eagles' 30-28 comeback win over WestPAC conference power Calumet (MI). He added also added 4 catches for 51 yards and 17 tackles.

Week 1 Passing Leaders

Watertown senior Tarek Yaeggi was rated as the #1 quarterback in the state by WisSports.net Player Rankings. He showed that rating to be well-deserved, throwing for a state-high 400 yards with 5 touchdowns as the Goslings took down West Allis Central 56-32. He completed 25 of 40 attempts in the game.

Week 1 Receiving Leaders

You don't normally think of big numbers being allowed by the Waunakee defense, but Monona Grove posted some impressive totals despite falling to the Warriors on Friday. In fact, running back Evan Oldenburg led the state in receiving yards with 171 on 7 catches, which included three touchdowns. Tammate James Conner, also a running back, added 5 catches for 146 yards and a score.
