Cody Wichmann of Pulaski, Jamaar McKay of Milwaukee Washington and Matt Thomas of Onalaska lead the way as unanimous selections to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division 2 All-State Team.

Wichmann, McKay and Thomas are also repeat first-team picks from a year ago. 

Wichmann (6-4) led Pulaski to a 22-4 record and a spot in the WIAA State Tournament by averaging 14.6 points per game and 4.6 rpg while shooting 52 percent from the field, 37 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the free-throw line. The Milwaukee recruit also ranked first on the team in assists with nearly four per contest. 

McKay (6-4) was selected as the Player of the Year in the Milwaukee City Conference after helping Milwaukee Washington to a share of the league title with Milwaukee Rufus King. An athletic and versatile wing player, McKay showed the ability to score from the perimeter or in the lane for first-year coach Freddie Riley. He averaged 22.8 ppg. 

Thomas (6-4) is a four-year varsity performer for Onalaska who led the Hilltoppers to the title in the Mississippi Valley Conference. The Iowa State recruit is a tremendous long-distance shooter, but also showed the ability to score off the dribble this season en route to averaging a robust 28.3 ppg. 

The rest of the first team includes Ashwaubenon senior Bennett Koch, Rice Lake sophomore Henry Ellenson, New Berlin Eisenhower junior Reed Timmer, West De Pere sophomore Cody Schwartz, Milwaukee Bay View senior Carlin Dupree, Merrill senior David Jesperson, Wisconsin Lutheran senior Deiondre Cunningham and Grafton senior Scotty Tyler.  

Koch (6-10) continued to show vast improvement throughout the season for an Ashwaubenon squad that went 18-6 under coach Kevin Phillips. The Northern Iowa recruit averaged 16.7 ppg and earned first-team all-league honors in the Fox River Classic Conference. 

Ellenson (6-9) is perhaps the most versatile big man in the state as he’s able to handle the ball, shoot from the perimeter and bang inside with his incredible physical strength and size. One of the nation’s most heavily recruited class of 2015 prospects, Ellenson earned Player of the Year honors in the Big Rivers Conference after helping Rice Lake to 20-5 record. 

Timmer (6-1) is a three-year varsity performer for coach David Scheidegger at New Berlin Eisenhower. A scoring point guard, Timmer averaged 24.7 ppg while helping the Lions to a 22-4 record and the title in the Western Division of the Woodland Conference. 

Schwartz (6-8) is a very skilled sophomore who can score inside and outside. He averaged a team-high 19.0 ppg while leading West De Pere to a 20-3 record and the championship in the Bay Conference. 

Dupree (6-3) is a talented point guard who did a bit of everything for an otherwise young squad at Milwaukee Bay View. The North Dakota State recruit averaged 22.0 ppg, 9.0 rpg and 6.1 apg for coach Tyler Podoll and the Redcats. 

One of the state’s top unsigned seniors, Jesperson (6-9) had a very solid senior season at Merrill, averaging 19.1 ppg and 10.3 rpg for coach Kurt Soderberg and the Bluejays. A skilled combination forward with an excellent upside as he gains more strength and weight, Jesperson is the younger brother of current Virginia starting guard Paul Jesperson. 

Cunningham (6-0) was selected as the Player of the Year in the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference after helping Wisconsin Lutheran to the league title and a berth in the WIAA State Tournament. A capable scorer and outstanding defender, Cunningham was a key player in a talented backcourt that also included senior Larry Moore (5-7) and junior C.J. Polk (6-1). 

Tyler (6-7) led a resurgence at Grafton averaging 16.0 ppg for a program that went 11-15 and advanced to the sectional finals before falling to Pulaski. A terrific long-distance shooter, Tyler will play NCAA Division I basketball at Idaho State next season.
