Team of the Week - Week 4: Madison La Follette Lancers
The Madison La Follette Lancers have been selected as the Week 4 WSN Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. The team defeated nemesis Verona for the first time since the Wildcats joined the Big Eight. The Lancers were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 4. A total of 4991 votes were cast, as La Follette's 1728 votes narrowly edged out the 1701 of Holmen.
In the five years Verona had been a Big Eight member prior to 2013, the Wildcats had never lost to La Follette and the average score in the series had been 52-14. Jumping out to a 21-0 halftime lead, La Follette held off the Wildcats for a 28-14 victory to remain unbeaten on the year. Much of the work was done on the ground where Cahleel Copus and Andre Saunders combined for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns.
