Athlete of the Week Nominees, September 16-22

Below are the nominees for the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for the week of September 16 through 22. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word.

Sam Foti, Madison Edgewood girls volleyball, compiled 62 kills in six matches to help the Crusaders to the Middleton Invitational title on Saturday. 

Mariah Whalen, Newman Catholic girls volleyball, collected 53 kills, 20 digs, and 5 aces to lead Cardinals to the title at their own invite. 

Brock Lisowe, Fond du Lac boys soccer, had a goal and two assists to help the Cardinals defeat Wauwatosa East 3-2 and win the Ashwaubenon Quadrangular championship on Saturday. Lisowe collected a goal and an assist in their win over Ashwaubenon in the first contest. 

Emery Whalen, Ellsworth football, helped the Panthers defeat Somerset, last year's Division 4 champ, 27-8. Whalen finished with 141 yards passing and 1 touchdown, while also rushing for 54 yards and a score. 

Bryce Niemi, Owen-Withee football, collected 169 yard on 17 carries and found the end zone 3 times in their 49-22 win over previously undefeated Greenwood/Granton.
