WisSports.net Week 7 Team of the Week Nominees:

Brookfield Central -- All seemed to be in hand for the Lancers heading into the fourth quarter of Friday's game against Marquette. They led 35-10 heading into the final period as they were all set to hand the Hilltoppers their first conference loss and pull into a tie atop the league standings. Then Charlie Greif threw four touchdown passes in 9 minutes as Marquette went up 38-35 with less than two minutes to play. Brookfield Central did not panic nor hang their heads, instead engineering a 74-yard scoring march as Riley Richarz connected with Matt Liewen for a long pass then found Terry Wallen for the 28-yard game-winner with 24 seconds left as Central pulled out a 42-38 victory.

New Glarus/Monticello -- Marshall had gone nearly 4 years without a Capitol-South Conference loss, but on a wet field in New Glarus Friday night, the Cardinals tasted defeat once again at the hands of New Glarus/Monticello. Taking advantage of four second-half Marshall fumbles, NGM scored the upset. Jim Chenoweth, who was crowned Homecoming King at halftime, ran for 114 yards and a touchdown in the game. The win keeps the team unbeaten in league play and tied with Cambridge for the top spot.

Sparta -- The Spartans ended a 35-game Mississippi Valley Conference losing streak with a 27-6 win over Aquinas on Friday night. The last league victory for Sparta came back on October 5th, 2007 when they defeated Holmen 47-21. It also ended a 20-game overall losing streak. A balanced rushing attack that saw no player go for more than 100 yards rolled up more than 300 rushing yards.

Sun Prairie -- Things have not come easy this season for the 2012 Division 1 state runners-up, who have faced difficult games almost every week in an improved Big Eight Conference. Friday was no different, and the Cardinals were up to the challenge, holding off Middleton 21-14 to all but lock up a second straight league crown. Breakout running back Noah Diaz was slowed by an ankle injury suffered in a Week 6 win over Madison Memorial, and did not play in the second half. Quarterback Ryan Curran answered the bell, coming up big in the second half and all game. He finished with 248 passing yards and 1 touchdown plus a 1-yard scoring sneak on the ground.

Wilmot -- The Panthers pulled off perhaps the biggest upset of the night and did so in convincing fashion. After a 63-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Doug Wedge with 8:37 left in the third quarter, Wilmot led 28-0 over the Badgers. They held on for a 28-14 victory. Quarterback Michael Lindeman completed 6 of 7 passes for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Albert Rogalski ran for 100 yards and a score. The defense came up huge holding the powerful Badger offense in check, forcing several turnovers, and recording numerous tackles for loss and sacks.
