WisSports.net Week 9 Team of the Week Nominees:

Athens -- The Bluejays went down to Loyal back in Week 2, but never gave up and rallied to claim a share of the Cloverwood title with a 30-20 win over previously unbeaten Owen-Withee Friday night. They found themselves in a hole right off the bat when they allowed Owen-Withee to return the opening kickoff for a touchdown, by a safety and touchdown in a 17 second span of the second quarter put them up 16-12 heading into halftime. Clinging to a 3-point lead in the fourth quarter, Max Stange's 2-yard scoring plunge gave them some breathing room.

Hudson -- The Raiders entered the 2009 season with just one playoff win in school history, but since that time have made quite a splash on the state scene and established themselves as one of the fastest rising programs in the state. Nowhere is that more evident than their recent dominance of the powerhouse Menomonie program. A 28-10 win over the Mustangs Friday gave them six straight wins in the series, and clinched a second straight outright Big Rivers title. Quarterback Landry Otten completed 11 of 20 passes for 238 yards and 2 scores, with Jake Giordana hauling in 6 catches for 142 yards and both touchdowns.

Pius XI -- Pius needed a win in a Week 9 to become playoff-eligible, but found themselves on the outside looking in as they trailed Greenfield 17-6 late in the third quarter. The Popes reeled off 21 straight points however to claim a 27-17 victory that allowed them to qualify for the postseason. Quarterback Joe Blando accounted for all three of those scores -- two on the ground and one through the air. For the day he finished 19 of 26 for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns passing the ball, adding 56 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground.

Platteville -- The Hillmen started the season 1-3, including a 0-3 mark in the SWC. They rallied from the tough start to take a 3-4 league mark into the final regular season game against River Valley, a team they'd already lost to 39-21 this year in the SWC's quirky scheduling setup. Thanks to running back William Cooley's 149 yards and 2 touchdowns plus a stingy defense that held the Blackhawks in check, the Hillmen scored a 14-7 win that allowed them to steal one of the final playoff spots.

Racine Horlick -- The Rebels started the season 0-4, including a 0-2 opening to the Southeast Conference schedule. They won three of the next four however, meaning a showdown with Kenosha Indian Trail in Week 9 would be for a playoff spot. Horlick was down 14-6 late in the third quarter, but rallied to take a 16-14 lead. Indian Trail answered with just 51 seconds left to go up 20-16, but Horlick didn't give up, marching down and scoring the game-winning points on a 15-yard run from quarterback Rickey Neal, Jr. with just 12 seconds remaining. The win got the Rebels into the postseason.

This is the final Team of the Week poll for this season. Thank you to those that voted and made it so successful. The Week 7 poll was the most-read article on WSN until the Week 8 poll shattered it with more than 155,000 pageviews.
