Stanley-Boyd sent Lancaster home with a sense of deja vu, as the Orioles' 21-16 Division 5 state title win meant Lancaster took home a silver ball for the third straight year.

Stanley-Boyd's speed and explosiveness on offense threatened to blow the game open early on, as they racked up 197 yards and took advantage of a pair of Flying Arrow turnovers.

Craig Mason scored on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Sorensen on the first drive of the game, and less than 4 minutes later he added another touchdown on a 1 yard scoring plunge. Midway through the second quarter Dusty Spaeth stepped in front of a Nathan Tranel pass and returned the interception for a 26-yard score, as the Orioles jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

Lancaster showed their championship mettle however, taking the next drive down the field and scoring on a weaving 34-yard Brett Snider run to make it 21-7 at halftime.

The Lancaster defense stiffened in the second half, holding Stanley-Boyd scoreless. The Arrows scored early in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard Tyler Glass run, but saw their hopes fade on a failed 4th down conversion at the Stanley-Boyd 10 yard line with 1:23 remaining in the game. The Orioles took a late safety, and sacked Tranel on the final play of the game to prevent a potential game-winning Hail Mary pass.

Senior quarterback Tyler Sorensen completed 14 of 23 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown, while Mason led the way on the ground with 70 yards and a score. Zach Turner was the leading receiving, hauling in 5 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Junior Tyler Glass finished with 152 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while Brett Snider added 67. Tranel completed 4 of 14 passes for 96 yards, but had three costly interceptions. Hunter Budack caught 3 of those passes for 86 yards.

The title is the third for Stanley-Boyd, and first since 1995. Lancaster takes home their third straight runner-up trophy, and fourth overall.
