Cochrane-Fountain City -- Mason Baecker

Cochrane-Fountain City and Hillsboro had already played a great game Thursday night, with the teams in overtime of their Division 5 sectional semi-final. As the clock ticked down, C-FC found themselves down by one with the ball. It ended up in the hands of freshman Mason Baecker in the corner, who drove to the lane and flipped up a shot over his shoulder. While he may not have seen the hoop, he did find the bottom of the net for a 57-56 Pirates victory.

Brookfield Central -- Riley LaChance

A matchup of the top two ranked teams in the last Division 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll did not disappoint, as Brookfield Central and Milwaukee King took turns making big plays and game-changing runs. King rallied from an early double-digit deficit and took a lead late in regulation. The Generals were up by three as the clock wound down, and tried to cover up Lancers senior standout Riley LaChance. He worked for a look from downtown but misfired. However, Brookfield Central stayed with the play and Elijah Goodman tapped the rebound back out to LaChance, who drained a game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer.

However, it wasn't enough, as the Lancers unbeaten season came to an end in overtime. King would hang on for a 77-74 victory to advance to Saturday's sectional final.

Sun Prairie - Malik Robinson

Sun Prairie has seen its share of heartache in the WIAA postseason in recent years, and it looked like it could be more of the same for the Cardinals. They led Verona by 10 entering the fourth quarter, but had seen their lead evaporate, and found themselves trailing by two following a pair of Mitch Flora free throws with 11.1 seconds remaining. The Wildcats covered up Sun Prairie junior standout Nick Noskowiak, so the Cardinals turned to Malik Robinson. The senior guard took the ball the length of the court, driving all the way to the basket for the tying layup with 3.1 seconds left. Sun Prairie would go on to win the game in double overtime, 54-53.

Ripon & Oostburg trade buzzer-beaters

Ripon was the victor in an incredible buzzer-beater last week thanks to freshman Ben Vander Plas, and last night continued their heart-pumping season, but not before having to survive a last second shot against them. With the game tied late in regulation, Ripon's other standout freshman Lucas Loewe controlled the ball until about 5 seconds left, then attacked on the right wing. His step-back three-pointer found the bottom of the net with what the officials determined was 2.6 seconds left, as it appeared the Tigers would win on yet another late shot. However, Oostburg called timeout and was able to in-bound the ball and advance it quickly to Tyler Chaloupka, who banked home a 25-footer from the right wing to send the game into overtime.

Ripon regained the momentum however, and pulled away for a 45-38 victory in the extra period.
