Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.
The pre-season watch list was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists, and five finalists for the award have now been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.
WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards -- Post Finalists
Maddy Gits, Oregon -- Gits can score both inside and from behind the arc. She aveaged 20.3 points per contest and scored over 20 points in eleven games, including a high of 32 in their regional final loss to Monona Grove.
Stephanie Kostowicz, Oak Creek -- Kostowicz at 6-foot-2 is able to score inside and rebound at a high level for the Knights. The Milwaukee recruit is averaging just under 14 points per game heading into tonight's sectional semifinal against conference foe Franklin.
Jessica Lindstrom, Superior -- Lindstrom plays with a high motor and can affect the game in a variety of ways. The Green Bay recruit averages 21.8 points per game and is also near the top of state in rebounding per game heading into tonight's sectional semi-final against D.C. Everest.
Carly Mohns, Brodhead -- Mohns is strong inside presence for the Cardinals, averaging 17.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. The Iowa recruit also contributes a team-high 3.2 assists and 4.5 steals per contest.
Renee Sladek, Merrill -- Sladek, a Northern Illinois recruit, can score both inside as well as knock down the mid-range shot. She is averaging 16.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.9 steals per contest for the Bluejays heading into tonight's sectional semi-final against New London.
