Senior Girls Basketball Awards: Point Guard Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists, and five finalists for the award have now been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.

WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards -- Point Guard Finalists

Laken James, Oconto -- James can score in a variety of ways and is also a strong passer. The Green Bay recruit led the team in scoring (20.1 ppg), rebounding (6.9 rpg), and assists (5.6 apg). James scored a season-high 36 points in win over Sturgeon Bay in late February.

Hailey Kontny, Superior -- Kontny is strong with the ball, can shoot it, and is also a good passer. The Minnesota-Duluth recruit averages 19.5 points per game for the Spartans who play D.C. Everest in a sectional semifinal tonight. 

Allie LeClaire, Notre Dame -- LeClaire is a very quick guard that excels off the dribble while also being able to knock down an outside shot. The Green Bay recruit leads the Tritons in scoring with 20.4 points per game and averaged 3.4 assists per game in 16 FRCC games. Notre Dame takes on Pulaksi in a sectional semifinal tonight. 

Jenny Lindner, Neillsville -- Lindner is a smooth guard that can score the ball and also find the open player. The Milwaukee recruit is averaging 16.3 points per contest heading into tonight's sectional semifinal against Arcadia. Jenny scored a season-high 28 points in a victory against Spencer in February. 

Gabbi Ortiz, The Prairie School -- Ortiz is a very quick and athletic point guard that can create her own shot as well as make outstanding passes. The Oklahoma recruit averaged 20.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. She finished her career with 1,860 career points and scored a career-high 34 points in a win over Racine St. Catherine's in late February.
