The Prairie School's Gabrielle Ortiz has been selected as the top senior Point Guard as part of the WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards.

Ortiz is a very quick and athletic point guard that can create her own shot as well as make outstanding passes. The Oklahoma recruit averaged 20.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. She finished her career with 1,883 points and scored a career-high 34 points in a win over Racine St. Catherine's in late February.

She helped The Prairie School to a Metro Classic Conference title this year as the Hawks finished the regular season undefeated. Last year the team advanced to the Division 4 state semi-finals.

Finalists for the award were Ortiz, Oconto's Laken James, Superior's Hailey Kontny, Notre Dame's Allie LeClaire, and Neillsville's Jenny Lindner.

Past winners of the award include Taylor Schmidt of Algoma (2013) Nicole Bauman of New Berlin Eisenhower (2012).

WSN Senior Basketball Awards are selected by WisSports.net staff.
