Madison La Follette baseball snapped Sun Prairie’s 30-game winning streak on Saturday. The Lancers are this week’s PlayintheDells.com Splash of the Week

The Lancers defeated Sun Prairie 3-2 in 8 innings to end the Cardinals long winning streak. The Cardinals are the two-time defending Division 1 state champ which makes the win even more impressive for the Lancers.

Eric Cefalu, making his first varsity start, provided the game-winning hit in the top of the eighth to lift the Lancers past the Cardinals in Big Eight action.

Ben Trebian threw two scoreless innings and also drew a lead-off walk in the top of the eighth. He was replaced by pinch runner Ryan Kielhofer who ended up scoring the game-winning run on Cefalu’s RBI single.

Kian O’Brien pitched the final three innings and earned the win for the Lancers. He retired the Cardinals in order in the bottom of the 8th to end the game.

Cefalu finished 3-for-4 at the plate, while O’Brien went 2-for-4 for the Lancers.

Madison La Follette moves to 2-3 overall and 2-3 in the Big Eight. The loss drops Sun Prairie to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
