Athlete of the Week Nominees, June 2-8

Below are the Sport Ngin Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of June 2 through 8. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Kennedy Blahnik, Algoma girls track & field, won the Division 3 shot put and discus for the fourth consecutive season. She went 48 feet, 8 inches in the shot put and 161 feet, 5 inches in the discus.

Wyatt Brown, D.C. Everest baseball, went 2-for-3 with a home run, 2 RBI, and a walk in the Evergreens 5-2 upset win over third-seeded Antigo to advance to Sectionals. He also went 3-for-4 with a triple, 2 RBI, and 2 runs in their 9-1 win over Rhinelander in a Regional Semifinal.

Alex Hatlevig, Melrose-Mindoro boys track & field, won the Division 3 titles in the 100 and 200 meter dash. He repeated as state champ in both events. He finished the 100 meter dash in 10.99 seconds and the 200 meter in 21.93. 

Megan Kleist, Kimberly softball, struck out 6 and went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles to help the Papermakers upset top-ranked Kaukauna 4-1 and advance to the state tournament. Megan allowed just one hit in their 8-1 Sectional Semifinal win over Beaver Dam. 

Elle Rehfeldt, Columbus girls soccer, scored 2 goals and added an assist to help the Cardinals knock off top-seeded Lake Mills 3-2.
