Marshfield's Daulton Varsho has been selected as the top senior Infielder/Catcher as part of the WSN senior Baseball Awards.

Varsho was a Second Team All-State catcher last season, and could be in line to move up in 2014. He was the Wisconsin Valley Player of the Year, hitting .462 with 6 home runs, 31 RBI, 35 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases.

He's a four-year varsity starter for the Tigers, earning Honorable Mention All-Conference as a freshman, Second Team recognition as a sophomore, and unanimous First Team laurels as both a junior and senior.

He will play at UW-Milwaukee next season. Older sister Taylor Varsho was named the top Shooter as part of the 2012 WSN Girls Basketball Awards and went on to play at D1 Colorado State, sister Andie plays softball at Purdue, and father Gary played in the Major Leagues and has spent many years as a coach and scout.

Finalists for the award were Varsho, Carter Amundsen of Sheboygan South, Turner Doornink of Clintonville, Nick Lemke of Rosholt, and Kyle Mrozinski of Ashwaubenon.

Past winners of the award include Prescott's Billy Brookshaw (2012) and Bay Port's Drew Neuville (2013.
