As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Week 2 Game of the Week:  Homestead at Arrowhead -- Thursday, 7 pm
There's a number of outstanding games this week, but it's hard to get bigger than this clash of state titans. They've combined for 44 playoff appearances, 105 postseason victories, 10 titles, and 6 runner-up finishes. They met in the D1 championship game three straight years from 2006 to 2008, with Homestead getting a pair of head to head victories in those games sandwiched around an Arrowhead title in 2007. And, oh yeah, there's that little bit about Homestead beating the Warhawks 13-7 in Week 2 last year when both were coming off state titles the year before. There is talent aplenty on both squads, including the state's top-ranked 2016 prospect in Arrowhead offensive lineman Ben Bredeson and 2015 #2-ranked prospect defensive end David Pfaff of Homestead. Head coaches Greg Malling of Arrowhead and Dave Keel of Homestead are among the best in the state. Even though it's a non-conference game, this should be one of the most electric atmospheres in the entire state all year, with a featured Thursday time slot and great community support on both sides.
