Air National Guard Week 2 Player of the Week Nominees:

Connor Allen, Brookfield East -- Brookfield East was unable to get an offensive touchdown in a 19-0 win over Beaver Dam on Friday, but thanks to a game-opening kickoff return for a touchdown by Mitch Mikulsky and four field goals from senior kicker Connor Allen, the Spartans earned a victory. Allen connected on field goals of 37, 44, and 47 yards in the second quarter alone, then added a 25-yarder in the third quarter for good measure. Rated as the top senior kicker/punter prospect in the state by WisSports.net, Allen is not only very accurate, but features a strong leg as well.

Nick Allen, Homestead -- The Week 2 Game of the Week was undoubtedly the rematch between state powers Homestead and Arrowhead. Homestead got a 13-7 win last year, and senior quarterback Nick Allen made sure the Highlanders would stay on top in 2014, completing 10 of 14 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns on 27 carries as Homestead claimed a 24-20 victory.

Ben Everhart, Eau Claire Memorial -- The Eau Claire Memorial versus La Crosse Logan game was one of more than 30 to be delayed by lightning and weather Friday night, but the delay didn't slow down Everhart. He completed 21 of 24 passes for 303 yards and 3 touchdowns, posting a perfect passer rating of 158.3. He added 28 yards and a touchdown on the ground as well, as the Old Abes won 34-7 over Central, a playoff team the last three years.

Zach Hintze, Saint Mary's Springs -- Springs took down Wautoma 30-12 in Week 2, and Hintze played a big role in many areas. On defense he recorded an interception, but made his bigger mark with his leg. He connected on all three field goal attempts and all three extra points, including a 57-yard field goal just before halftime. The 57-yarder ties him for 6th on the state's all-time list of longest field goals. It is the longest in the state since a 58-yarder by Sun Prairie's Lucas Otto in 2011.

Collin McCarville, Port Edwards -- The Blackhawks lost to North Crawford 46-12 in a non-conference game last year, though they did go on to squeak into the playoffs. Port Edwards got a measure of revenge this season, topping North Crawford 40-22 on Saturday as Collin McCarville threw for 352 yards and 6 touchdowns while completing 19 of 29 passes. He spread the ball around, as four different receivers had between 78 and 99 receiving yards, with each scoring at least one touchdown. McCarville is second in the state in passing yards through Week 2 with 590 on the year, and leads the way with 9 touchdown passes.
