Week 2 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year. We have added an 8-Man Coaches Poll this season.

Division 1

With Arrowhead's loss to Homestead, we figured there would be a new #1 team in the Division 1 Coaches Poll. Resoundingly, Kimberly rose one spot to take over the #1 position, receiving all but one top vote from the coaches. Arrowhead's loss dropped them to 4th. Germantown moves up to #2, while Hudson debuts in the rankings at #3 after two dominating wins over teams from Minnesota. Fond du Lac made a big jump from #10 to #5 as well. Franklin's loss to Greendale dropped them out of the rankings.

Division 2

Homestead solidified the top spot in the Coaches Poll with a win over former D1 #1 Arrowhead, and is once again followed by Waukesha West. Greendale flip-flops with Ashwaubenon for the #3 spot. Menomonie's loss to Saint Francis (IL) dropped them from #5 to all the way out of the poll. Monona Grove works its way back into the rankings at #9 after a 21-0 shutout of former #10 DeForest, while South Milwaukee also enters the rankings at #10.

Division 3

Wisconsin Lutheran continues to hold a slight edge in the Division 3 poll, with Catholic Memorial and West De Pere close behind. Reedsburg moves up from #6 to #4 as there was some minor shuffling at the top of the rankings. Notre Dame enters the poll at #7 and Kewaskum at #10, as Big Foot's 34-game regular season winning streak came to an end, causing them to drop out.

Division 4

The Division 4 playoffs were wild last season, and the early going of the 2014 regular season is much the same. Defending champ and former #1 Winneconne was shutout by Freedom, while last season's runner-up and former #2 Platteville suffered the same fate against Holmen. They slipped to #9 and #10 respectively. It was close, but perennial power Somerset ascended to the top spot, followed by Brodhead/Juda and Lodi. Little Chute and Marshall round out the top five, with #7 Black River Falls and #8 Freedom newcomers to the rankings this week.

Division 5

None of the teams in last week's poll suffered losses, meaning the same ten teams are in the rankings this week, albeit with a couple slight changes. Stanley-Boyd is still #1, followed once again by Lancaster, Amherst, Arcadia, and Kewaunee. Roncalli makes a jump from #9 to #6.

Division 6

Not much changed at the top of the WisSports.net Division 6 Coaches Poll, with Shiocton still holding down the top spot, followed by Saint Mary's Springs, Athens, and Edgar. Hurley jumps ahead of Darlington for the #5 spot. Lake Country Lutheran enters the rankings at #9 as Glenwood City went down in Week 2.

Division 7

Defending champ and former #1 Black Hawk, former #2 Catholic Central, and former #3 Greenwood/Granton all suffered losses in Week 2, which left an opening at the top spot in the rankings. Owen-Withee made the jump all the way from #8 to #1 in a crowded D7 Coaches Poll. Black Hawk is second, with Almond-Bancroft, Catholic Central, and Ithaca rounding out the top five. Potosi (#7), Port Edwards (#9), and Hillsboro (#10) are all new to the poll.

8-Man Football

We're very excited to produce an 8-Man Football Coaches Poll for the first time in 2014, and hope to be able to showcase and highlight the teams throughout the year with the support of the coaches. Last year's unofficial champion Green Bay NEW Lutheran is on top once again, with Prairie Farm taking over the top spot. Gibraltar, Bruce, and Oneida Nation round out the top five.
