The Cassville Comets have been selected as the Week 3 WisSports.net Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team scored its first win over Potosi in more than a decade last Friday. The Comets were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 3. A total of 2970 votes were cast, as Cassville's 1020 votes easily edged Kenosha Indian Trail's 684.

Prior to Friday's 22-12 victory over Potosi, you had to go back to 2002 to find the last time the Comets beat the Chieftains. Since 2008, they had given up at least 34 points in every matchup, while never scoring more than 14. That included a 46-8 loss last season.

Potosi had six more first downs and 92 more yards of offense, but Cassville made the plays when they needed to. Caleb Dahse finished with 96 rushing yards and a score, while Dallas Esser added a pair of touchdowns on the ground as well.

With the win, Cassville moves to 2-1 in the league, and will travel to Belmont on Friday night.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 4 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
