As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Week 5 Game of the Week:  Shiocton (4-0, 2-0; D6 #1) at Amherst (4-0, 2-0; D5 #2) -- Friday, 7 pm
Few league duos can match the success of Amherst and Shiocton over the last few seasons, as the CWC-8 rivals have combined for 21 playoff wins in the last three years, with a pair of state championships and a runner-up finish in that time. Amherst, who is ranked #2 in the latest Division 5 Coaches Poll and took home an unbeaten state title in 2012, hosts this year's matchup against the Chiefs, who are the top-ranked and defending state champions in D6. That's good news for the Falcons, as the home team has won the head-to-head matchup the past three seasons. Neither team allows more than 7 points per game defensively, while the Amherst's offense has averaged 47 points per game and Shiocton's 36. Shiocton scored a 21-14 victory last season as Hank Fielding returned an interception 26-yards for the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, despite 45 carries and 271 yards rushing from Amherst quarterback Garret Groshek. This game is more than deserving for recognition as the Game of the Week, and is one of the best small-school matchups of the entire year.
