The Hurley Midgets have been selected as the Week 4 WisSports.net Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team scored its first ever win at Crystal Falls/Forest Park (MI) on Friday night in come from behind fashion. The Midgets were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 4. A total of 10,048 votes were cast in one of the most popular polls we've ever done, as Hurley's 4,614 votes narrowly edged Muskego's 4449.

Tucked away in far Northern Wisconsin competing in a conference of Michigan schools, the Hurley Midgets don't often end up on most people's radar around the state, despite consistent playoff success (including a pair of state semi-final runs in the last six years). Hurley's 18-14 win over Crystal Falls/Forest Park (MI) may not have registered with many people, but it was historic nonetheless. The comeback victory marked the first time in history that Hurley had won at Forest Park, who entered at #4 in Michigan's D8 poll.

Down 14-6 with under 6 minutes left, Hurley was able to drive for a touchdown with 2:56 remaining to pull within 14-12, but failed on the two-point conversion attempt. After a failed onside kick attempt, they used all three timeouts and forced a punt, taking over on their own 32 yard line with 2:20 left in the game and no timeouts. In the rain, they converted a 4 and 11 on the drive and made it to the 1-yard line with 3.1 seconds left. Devin Czerneski went in from a yard out with no time left on the clock to secure the win.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 5 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
