The 9th annual WSN Prep Showcase took place on this past Saturday at the JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. This year’s event included a partnership with the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association which will extend to future events.
Over 160 boys competed in the biggest field in the Showcase’s history. Players were divided on 20 teams that went through pool play and then divided into brackets based on pool finish. Over 25 college coaches were in attendance watching the action.
Below are the team results from the event, teams were named for the color of shirt they wore, with over 20 teams there were a variety of unique color names so please bare with us.
1st Place Bracket:
Champion – Team#15 - Sapphire – Coach Brad Rohling
Coach Rohling’s squad rolled through pool play with a 4-0 record and winning the four games by a combined 43 points. In pool play they bested the Orange in the first round and pulled away late against Kiwi in the title game for the Showcase Championship. The Sapphire squad was led by senior Lincoln Wiesman (Badger, 6’5”, 2015) who played a solid inside game and was effective when he stepped out on the perimeter. Trevell Cunningham (Arrowhead, 5’10”, 2017) was outstanding throughout the day hitting shots, running the break and getting in the lane for the dish or finish. Torrey Robey Jr (Milwaukee King, 6’3”, 2017), Craig Minzlaff (Bay Port, 6’1”, 2015) and Jai’Vionne Green (Tosa East, 6’3”, 2016) were also very impressive throughout the day.

The only team in the 1st place bracket with a pool play loss, Kiwi charged past Orange in the semi-finals and gave Sapphire a great game in the final. Guards Carlos Davis (St. Francis, 5’10”, 2017), Connor Mitchell (East Troy, 6’1”, 2015) and Alex Bassuener (Rapids, 6’0”, 2015) led the way for Kiwi.
