Air National Guard Week 6 Player of the Week Nominees:

Evan Dux, Kimberly - Dux wasn't a total stranger to the running back spot for the Papermakers prior to Friday night, serving as the backup tailback and also used as a fullback. However, he hadn't been asked to carry the load previously, as that task had fallen to All-State caliber running back Blair Mulholland. However, when Mulholland went out with a leg injury after his first carry, Dux stepped in and with the help of the offensive line made sure the running game didn't skip a beat. He pounded away at the Appleton North defense with 30 carries for 207 yards and a touchdown as Kimberly held off their rivals for a 29-12 victory. His 4th quarter scoring plunge from 5 yards out put the Papermakers up 29-0 to provide the cushion they needed.

Nathaniel Loging, Wautoma - It was a historic night for Wautoma running Nathaniel Loging, who shattered the previous state record for most rushing yards in a game. In a 62-7 win over Wisconsin Dells, Loging carried the ball 31 times for 524 yards and 6 touchdowns. The previous mark was set in 2005 by Milwaukee Marshall's Donte Steward, as he rolled up 465 yards. Loging had 267 yards at halftime, and broke the record on his final carry of the game, a 78-yard touchdown run.

Derek Severson, Clinton - The Cougars entered Friday's game against Division 4 second-ranked Brodhead/Juda with a pair of close losses on their record, but made sure a tight game would go their way at the end. Clinton held off a potential game-tying two-point conversion in the closing seconds for a 36-34 victory, but they likely wouldn't have even been in the game without the exploits of Severson. The senior quarterback ran for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns on 26 carries, adding 55 yards and a touchdown through the air as well. His 70-yard scoring scamper early in the 4th quarter answered a Brodhead/Juda score and provided the Cougars the 8-point cushion they needed.

Casey Schuett, Watertown - It wasn't quite a "must win" game for Watertown, but it was very important that they get a victory against Hartford on Friday night. It didn't look good for the Goslings in the late third quarter, as Hartford scored to take a 35-21 lead with just over 3 minutes remaining in the period. That's when Schuett began the comeback. He scored on a 5-yard touchdown run a few minutes later, adding a 52-yard scoring run with just under 4 minutes left, then found Carson Keeser for an 11-yard touchdown with just 8 seconds remaining to give Watertown a 42-35 victory over the Orioles, who were previously unbeaten in conference play. Schuett finished the day 15 of 22 for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns passing, adding 107 yards and 3 touchdowns on 20 carries as well.

Jonathan Stiever, Cedarburg - Against an elite opponent in a huge game, you'd be hard-pressed to match the all-around contributions made by Stiever in Cedarburg's 40-27 win over previously D2 top-ranked Homestead. He carried the ball 14 times for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns, caught 5 passes for 108 yards and 2 more scores, and intercepted two passes on defense as well as the Bulldogs rattled off 19 straight second half points to blow open what had been a tight game at halftime. It was the first victory for Cedarburg over Homestead in 12 years and keeps the Bulldogs in contention for a share of the North Shore title.
