The Packers have announced that Matt Zavada of the Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/Sheboygan Christian (KLC) Cooperative High School football program has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week.

Zavada, in his seventh year as the head coach of the KLC football program, led his team to a 49-28 victory over Random Lake High School. Friday’s victory gave KLC their first conference win and best start since 2010.

“It’s been a really good year for our young team,” said Zavada. “They continue to work hard every day and improve each week. I’m proud of our kids, coaches and the support we receive from the community.”

A Flint, Mich. native, Zavada is a 1997 graduate of Holly High School (Mich.), where he played on the offensive line. After high school, he attended Concordia University-Wisconsin where he played on the offensive line under coach Jeff Grabrielson. Zavada began his coaching career as an assistant offensive line coach for Concordia in 2001. In 2002, he accepted his first high school assistant coaching position at Arrowhead before landing in Kohler in 2003. When Kohler dropped their football program in 2005, Zavada moved to Ozaukee high school, where he spent three seasons before being offered his current position as the head coach for the KLC Co-op football program. He is also the physical education teacher for the Kohler School District.

Zavada and his staff oversee a program of 47 players, including a varsity roster of 32. His assistant coaching staff includes Frantz Feliz, Al Holzheimer, Chris Jaskulski, Mike Nikson and Scott Silvestri.

Zavada and his wife, Kelly, have twin boys, Parker and Quinn.
