Air National Guard Week 8 Player of the Week Nominees:

Jamie Betro, Rosholt -- Rosholt struggled in the non-conference season, going just 1-3 during the first four weeks of the year. They've put it together for the conference schedule however, as their 38-26 win over Almond-Bancroft Friday night marked their fourth straight victory and leaves them alone atop the CWC-10 standings heading into the final week. Betro accounted for all five Hornets touchdowns, carrying the ball 24 times for 119 yards, as he and Jarod Kurtzweil both went over the century mark in rushing yards.

Brad Burling, Burlington -- 48 minutes wasn't enough to decide who of Burlington and Wilmot would take over sole possession of first place in the Southern Lakes Conference, so the teams headed to not one overtime, but four. In the fourth overtime, quarterback Brad Burling found Hunter Melby for a 25-yard score to give the Demons a 42-35 victory. Burling finished the game with 256 yards and 5 touchdowns on 21 of 31 passing, adding 99 yards on the ground as well.

Logan Furniss, Lodi -- The Blue Devils headed into Friday's Capitol-North Conference showdown against Poynette knowing that the winner would clinch at least a share of the league crown and have a good shot at finishing the conference schedule unbeaten. It would be important to get out to a good start, and that's exactly what Furniss helped Lodi do, accounting for three first quarter touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 passing) as the Blue Devils jumped out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back. He finished with 115 total yards of offense and those three scores, to go with 3 tackles as part of a stingy defense that held Poynette's high-scoring attack in check.

Justin Oliden, South Milwaukee -- Last season, South Milwaukee went unbeaten until the Woodland crossover matchups, including a 42-17 defeat at the hands of Pewaukee. They were set on not letting that happen again. In a shootout, the Rockets knocked off Pewaukee 56-41 this year, as senior quarterback Justin Oliden came up huge in the game, completing 15 of 21 passes for 397 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Shawn Woodruff, Black Hawk -- Coming off two straight losses, defending Division 7 state champ Black Hawk needed to get things moving in the right direction again, but faced a tough challenge in 1-loss Belmont. Shawn Woodruff and the offensive line took over, as Woodruff set a new school record with 379 yards on 31 carries, scoring 4 touchdowns in a 48-20 Warriors victory. Three of his touchdowns came in the fourth quarter as the Warriors pulled away from a 20-20 tie heading into the final period.
