The Plymouth Panthers have been selected as the Week 9 WisSports.net Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team defeated rival Kewaskum to claims the Eastern Wisconsin Conference title. The Panthers were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 9. A total of 6,725 votes were cast, as Plymouth's 2,686 votes edged Eleva-Strum's 2,444.

If it seems like Plymouth and Kewaskum are battling it out for the Eastern Wisconsin Conference title every year, it's because they are, for the last dozen seasons anyway. One of the schools has claimed at least a share of the crown each year since 2003, and most seasons they've been 1 and 2 in some order. It was no different in 2014, as they met in the final game of the regular season with matching 6-0 league records. It was a back and forth game until Plymouth scored a safety to pull within 19-16 with just over three minutes left, then went ahead 23-19 with just over a minute remaining before holding on for the victory. Samuel Staehling scored the game's winning touchdown from 4 yards out, one of three scores on the day for the junior as he rushed for 157 yards.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Level 1 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
