The Tim Krumrie Award is given annually to the state's top senior defensive lineman as part of the WSN Senior Football Awards. The award is named after Tim Krumrie, a former Mondovi and University of Wisconsin athlete who would go on to star in the NFL for 12 seasons, including two Pro Bowl appearances.

The pre-season watch list was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists, and six finalists for the award have now been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state finals.

Tim Krumrie Award Finalists:

Austin Behm, Menasha - Among the state's leaders in sacks with 15 through 12 games, Behm has also recorded 21 tackles for loss and 92 tackles overall as the Bluejays are unbeaten and heading to the D2 state title game. "We absolutely feel that Austin is the most dominating defensive lineman in the state," said head coach Jeramie Korth. "He breaks down his opponents by his pure technique, not his size." In addition to the defensive stats, Behm has recorded an incredible 7 blocked punts for Menasha.

Sam Gromacki, Catholic Memorial - Gromacki is a bull on the inside of the defensive line for the Crusaders. In 11 games he recorded 62 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and recovered 5 fumbles against some of the best competition in the entire state. "He is one of the top two defensive linemen I have coached in 41 seasons," said veteran Catholic Memorial head coach Bill Young.

Marcus Kelly, Waukesha West - Kelly showed just how versatile he is this season, once again starting on both offense and defense. Part way through the year he made the move from tight end to guard due to injuries along the line and did so with no reservations according to head coach Steve Rux. He really excelled on defense however, where he's recorded 95 tackles and 8 sacks through 13 games. He's a certain First Team All-Conference choice and in the running for league Defensive Player of the Year. He's committed to Northern Illinois.

David Pfaff, Homestead - The Homestead defense has been outstanding all season, allowing less than 90 yards per game on the ground. Pfaff has once again been a big part of that, performing at a high level all season after earning First Team All-State honors as a junior. Pfaff gave a verbal commitment to Wisconsin in the off-season after garnering attention from schools across the Midwest. "David is an excellent candidate for the Tim Krumrie Award," Homestead coach Dave Keel said.

Devin Webster, Sun Prairie - Sun Prairie saw its streak of two straight Big Eight Conference championships end this season but Webster continued the strong defensive line tradition for the Cardinals. A three-year starter and likely two-time First Team All-Conference selection, he recorded 9 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, and 56 tackles on the season despite missing one game with injury.

Robert Windsor, Fond du Lac - Windsor is a bit of a late bloomer that has parlayed a huge senior season into Division 1 attention, including scholarship offers from Illinois and North Dakota State. Through 9 regular season games he posted 56 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks as an incredibly disruptive force up front for the Cardinals. "I feel that Robert is not only the best defensive lineman in the state, but one of, if not the best, defensive players in the state," said head coach Mike Gnewuch. "Robert is as dynamic as any player that I have been around in my career, including Nick Hayden of the Dallas Cowboys. He cannot be blocked with just one man." Windsor was the VFA-South Defensive Lineman of the Year and the co-Defensive Player of the Year.
