Sport Ngin Athlete of the Week Nominees, November 10-16

Below are the Sport Ngin Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of November 10 through 16. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Katie Drabot, Cedarburg girls swimming, won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle while setting records in both events. In the 200 freestyle she beat her own mark that she set last season with a time of 1:45.40 this year. In the 500 freestyle she finished in a time of 4:43.09, five seconds better than the old record held by Aja Van Hout of Madison East in 2008.

Hazel Hertting, Neenah girls swimming, captured her second straight diving championship in record breaking fashion. She scored a 576.45, eclipsing the previous mark of 502.45 held by Lauren Leroy of Oshkosh North in 2003. 

Eaven Mason, Marquette boys volleyball, finished with a team-high 14 kills to help the Hilltoppers overcome a 2-0 deficit to defeat New Berlin United and capture their second straight WIAA State Championship. 

Rachel Munson, Shorewood girls swimming, repeated as the Division 2 State Champion in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. She won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:03.02 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.70.

Beata Nelson, Verona/Mount Horeb girls swimming, was part of three record-setting performances. She won back-to-back titles in three events, setting new state records in all three. In the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and 200 freestyle relay. Nelson set what is believed to be a national record in the butterfly with a time of 51.70.
