After three straight runner-up finishes in Division 5, Lancaster upgraded its hardware to a gold ball in 2014, pulling away from Amherst 41-21 to secure the state championship. It's the 7th state title for the Flying Arrows, all under head coach John Hoch. That ties the record for most championships by one school, as Stratford also has 7 titles.

Lancaster got on the board on its opening drive, capped off by a 13-yard Tyler Glass touchdown run. Amherst answered back quickly as Garrett Groshek busted a 44-yard scoring run.

The action was fast and furious in the first half, with Lancaster taking a 21-14 lead into the break. It appeared Amherst would tie things up, but the Falcons fumbled inside the 5 yard line with 21 seconds remaining.

Lancaster scored a pair of touchdowns in a five minute span late in the 3rd and early in the 4th to take a 35-21 lead. Amherst added a score midway through the final period, but Lancaster sealed the deal on a 76 yard Brett Snider touchdown run on an option pitch to provide the final margin of victory.

The Flying Arrows rolled up 395 yards on the ground, led by 169 and 3 scores from Glass. He also caught an impressive 28 yard score. Safety Andy Ryan set a new all-division state finals record with 22 tackles in the game, while Nate Tranel had a pair of interceptions.

Amherst saw two players, Groshek and Connor Zblewski, go over the 100-yard mark on the ground, but three turnovers hurt the Falcons.
