In the end, it was too much Tyler Johnson for Waukesha West to handle, as the senior quarterback powered Menasha to a 35-17 win in the Division 2 title game. The Bluejays claimed a championship in their first trip to the finals.

Waukesha West led the game 14-7 at the end of the 1st quarter, as freshman sensation Peter MacCudden scored a pair of short touchdowns for the Wolverines.

In addition to a 1-yard 1st quarter touchdown run, Johnson added a 39-yard scoring scamper and a beautiful 36-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Medrano in the 2nd quarter as the Bluejays took a 21-14 lead into the break.

Waukesha West had the only score in the rd quarter on a 28-yard Alec Durand field goal, but Menasha put the game away in the 4th on a 32-yard interception return for touchdown by Seifert and yet another Johnson scoring run from 23 yards out.

For the game, Johnson rushed for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns on 25 carries, giving him 985 rushing yards in 5 playoff games. He completed 7 of 9 passes for 107 yards and a score.

Matt Rohde had a nice day on the ground as well for the Bluejays, with 13 carries and 83 yards.

The collective defensive unit clamped down on the West offense in the second half, recording 11 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. All-State defensive end Austin Behm had 4 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and was generally in West quarterback Connor Blount's face all day.
