Markie Ash, Waupaca co-op girls hockey, is the state leader in goals and points so far this year, including a huge game last Tuesday against Northern Edge. She scored 5 goals in the contest, including a second period hat trick and the game-winner in overtime as the team won 6-5.

Emily Kind, Marathon girls basketball, helped the Red Raiders take down Division 5 #4 Assumption in a key early Marawood-South contest Friday night. D4 #8 Marathon trailed by 4 heading into the fourth quarter, but used a 19-8 edge to pull out a 42-35 victory. Kind finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.

Zack Levis, Antigo boys hockey, has just two goals on the season, but the junior defenseman has made them count. A couple weeks ago he had a late game-tying goal against New Richmond that led to an overtime win, and last Tuesday he scored with about a minute left on the clock to give the Red Robins a 3-2 win over Stevens Point and remain unbeaten.

Nick Noskowiak, Sun Prairie boys basketball, poured in 37 points in a 66-61 win over Madison La Follette to give the Cardinals a key win to open the Big Eight season. He then added 43 points on Friday to help take down Beloit Memorial 71-63, connecting on 9 three-pointers.

Darell Riley, Milwaukee North boys basketball, is the leading scorer in the state on the young season, going for at least 36 points in all four of his games this season. That includes a 43-point performance as North held off Young Coggs Prep 93-92 last Tuesday, followed by a 42-point outing in a 106-75 victory at Milwaukee Juneau/Reagan. He went 32 for 39 (82%) from the free throw line in those two games.
