Week 1 WisSports.net Boys Basketball Coaches Poll presented by ProStar

Division 1

Stevens Point remains atop the Division 1 poll, followed by three-time defending champion Germantown. One of the biggest stories of the early season however has been the play of Kimberly, who jumps up to #3 this week. The Papermakers, with several starters from the football team that won a second straight state title just a few weeks ago, are off to a 3-0 start, with victories over teams ranked in the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Preseason D1 rankings: Oshkosh North, De Pere, and Neenah. All three of those teams are ranked in the Week 2 Coaches Poll as well, including Neenah, who dropped from 3rd to 5th. Sussex Hamilton moves into the rankings at 10th with a 5-0 record.

Division 2

The top four remain unchanged from last week, as Mount Horeb, Wisconsin Lutheran, Kaukauna and Rice Lake hold those positions. Milwaukee Washington shoots up from 9th to 5th this week. Pulaski had been 5th last week, but a pair of losses dropped the Red Raiders out of the poll this week. Seymour got a nice win over previously undefeated and D1-ranked Sun Prairie on Saturday, and move into the rankings at #7.

Division 3

Poynette was 1st in last week's poll with a 2-0 record, and the Pumas have played four games since that time. While they scored some nice wins during that time, they did go down at Marshall Tuesday night in a two-point game. The Pumas fall to 5th this week, while Marshall moves up to 4th, though they did go down to Watertown Luther Prep Monday night. Luther Prep jumps into the poll at #8 this week. So who takes over the top spot after all of that? Ripon, who sport a 4-0 record, followed by G-E-T.

Division 4

Dominican remains the heavy favorite in the D4 poll, though they were not a unanimous choice as they were last week. Mineral Point did manage to snare one first-place vote, but are a distant 2nd overall in the rankings. Racine St. Catherine's nudges ahead of Regis for the 3rd spot. At the bottom of the poll, Bonduel and Saint Mary's Springs are 4-0 and occupy spots 9 and 10.

Division 5

Wausaukee is the top-ranked team in the Division 5 Coaches Poll once again, with plenty of movement around the Rangers. Randolph's loss to Oregon last Thursday dropped the Rockets from 2nd to 5th. Hillsboro moves up to 2nd, with Sheboygan Lutheran at 4th. Gilmanton's undefeated season thus far has them in the top ten at #9, while Port Edwards moves into the poll at the #10 spot.
