MEN’S BASKETBALL
Tyson Kalien, Junior (Chippewa Falls, Wis.), Guard of UW-Eau Claire
Kalien continued his hot shooting as the Blugolds won their second consecutive WIAC road game. In a 75-72 victory at UW-Stout on Jan. 7, Kalien led all scorers with 25 points making nine-of-12 field goal attempts, including a seven-of-nine performance from the three-point line. Kalien also collected three rebounds and two assists in the victory. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak to the Blue Devils and was the first Blugold win at Johnson Fieldhouse since Dec. 1, 2007. Kalien has scored 20 or more points in four of his last six games.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Sally Linzmeier, Senior (Valders, Wis.), Guard of UW-Superior
Linzmeier helped the Yellowjackets to a 2-0 record during the week. She scored 28 points as the Yellowjackets led from start-to-finish and beat UW-Whitewater 71-59 on Jan. 7. On Jan. 10, Linzmeier scored 29 points, including 23 in the second half as the Yellowjackets rallied from 12 points down to win at UW-La Crosse. Her weekly totals included 20-of-32 shooting from the field, 17-of-19 shooting from the free throw line, 17 rebounds, nine steals, seven assists and two blocked shots.
