MEN’S BASKETBALL

Cody Odegaard, Senior (Poynette, Wis.), Guard of UW-Whitewater
Odegaard averaged 16 points, three rebounds and a steal, while shooting 50 percent (11-of-22) from the floor, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range, to help the No. 2-ranked Warhawks finish 2-0 for the week and clinch a share of the WIAC regular-season championship.  Against UW-Oshkosh on Feb. 18, Odegaard registered 12 of his 15 points in the second half to help UW-Whitewater close out a 69-47 victory on Senior Night at Kachel Gymnasium. Three days later at UW-Stout, he totaled 17 points, including 14 in the second half, and hit four free throws in the final five minutes of the contest to help the Warhawks close out an 86-77 triumph and claim the program’s 15th conference title.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Courtney Lewis, Senior (Prairie du Chien, Wis.), Forward of UW-Eau Claire
Lewis finished the regular season in strong fashion as the Blugolds posted two home conference wins to earn the No. 2 seed in the WIAC tournament.  In a 69-64 win over UW-River Falls, Lewis posted a game-high 27 points and five assists to go along with six rebounds, while playing 33 minutes.  Lewis made 7-of-13 field goal attempts, including a perfect three-of-three from the three-point line and 10-of-10 free throws.  Her point total was one point shy of tying her career high of 28 points at UW-Platteville on Feb. 13, 2013.  In a 64-61 victory over UW-Oshkosh, Lewis again lead both teams with 25 points, 11 rebounds and one steal to go along with two assists and one blocked shot, while playing all 40 minutes.  Lewis made 5-of-12 field goal attempts, connecting on three-of-three three-point field goals and 12-of-14 free throws.  For the week, Lewis averaged 26 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists making 12-of-25 (.480) field goals, six-of-six three-point field goals and 22-of-24 (.917) free throws.  Lewis is currently tied for 20th on the Blugold all-time scoring list with 948 career points.

Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference

MSOE's Austin Stueck has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for events of February 16-22, as selected by the league's sports information directors. Stueck (South Milwaukee, Wis.) averaged 30.0 points and 4.5 assists in a pair of games last week. The junior forward put up 29 points at Wisconsin Lutheran in the regular season finale Wednesday, and shot 14-of-24 for 31 points in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals at Concordia Wisconsin Saturday. Other nominations: Brandon Smith, Aurora; Tim McGinty, Benedictine; Eric Kittel, Concordia Wisconsin; Trevor Neale, Edgewood; Michael Murray, Rockford; Jake Jarnigo, Wisconsin Lutheran.

Wisconsin Lutheran's Kristen Schulz has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for events of February 16-22, as selected by the league's sports information directors. Schulz (Safford, Ariz.) averaged 25.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 6.0 blocks per game as the Warriors won their seventh-straight game to advance to the NACC Tournament semifinals. The senior center tied her career-high with 37 points in Saturday's quarterfinal win over Aurora. She shot a remarkable 73.7 percent (14-for-19) in the 71-48 victory over the Spartans. This marks her third-straight weekly honor, and eighth of the season. Other nominations: Meghan Novak, Benedictine; Morgan Jahnke, Concordia Chicago; Madelyn Landgraf, Concordia Wisconsin; Mariah Hill, Edgewood; Bailey Grayvold, Lakeland; Holly Denfeld, MSOE; Katie Clark, Rockford.
