Senior Girls Basketball Awards: Point Guard Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists, and five finalists for the award have now been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. Finalists are eligible for just one of the five awards. There will be a total of 25 finalists for the five awards, five different players for each award.

Senior Girls Basketball Awards -- Point Guard Finalists

Kayla Goth, DeForest -- Goth is an outstanding athlete that affects the game in a number of ways. She unfortunately had her season cut short when she suffered a torn ACL late in the season. The Kansas State recruit finished the year averaging 13.9 points per game. 

Gabby Green, Pius XI -- Green is a high intensity player that excels on both sides of the ball. The Bradley recruit is averaging 15.8 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.6 steals per game for the undefeated Lady Popes. Pius XI plays Shorewood in a Division 2 Sectional Semifinal tonight. 

Shakeela Fowler, Milwaukee King -- Fowler is a quick guard that is an excellent passer, while also able to score in a number of ways. The Illinois State recruit averaged 14.8 points 4.9 assists, and 2.9 steals per contest. 

Alison Hughes, Janesville Craig -- Hughes is a strong player on both sides of the ball. The Minnesota-Crookston recruit excels at scoring, but also passes well and defends. She is averaging 17.4 points per game, while making 49 three's for the Cougars. Janesville Craig plays Madison Memorial in a Division 1 Sectional Semifinal tonight. 

Jasmin Samz, Wausau West -- Samz is a strong, high motor player that affects the game on both ends of the court. The St. Louis recruit averaged 25.4 points per game and made 46 triples (40%) for the Warriors. Jasmin scored a career-high 39 points in a win over crosstown rival Wausau East in January.
