The Hayward girls basketball team found itself down by 1 point as the seconds ticked away in a Division 3 sectional final against Durand. As junior Katie Stark dribbled near the top of the key, it was apparent a shot attempt would come at the very end of the clock.

She dribbled left, coming to a bit of an awkward stop with both feet on the 3-point line. In desperation mode, she heaved up a shot that found the bottom of the net as time expired, giving the Hurricanes their first state tournament trip since 1989.
